YM Fullsize vs Midsize

Does anyone have a side by side picture of these two watches? And maybe a midsize YM next to a 36mm DJ? I am looking into a YM and want to know if the 35mm midsize would be too small. I currently am wearing a DJ.

Sorry, don't have a pic of the 35 mm YM, but if you are comfortable with the 36 mm DJ, then you should be fine.

I have only the 40 mm YM.

For your further info, the DJ has the same 3135 movement as the 40 mm YM; but the 35 mm mid-size YM is fitted with the ladies 2235 calibre which is also a very good movement.

Personally I love the midsized Yachtmaster. It may be a little smaller, but it may be more to your likings since it's close to the DJ.

Thanks JJ and Kyle. I can pick one up for a decent price and may sell my 16610 to get it.

Make sure you won't grow out of it. I don't feel comfortable with the smaller even though I started off with a Breitling Coltocean, I quickly craved the larger. There's a little too much $ involved not to study it like you are. Good luck

Didn't know that JJ, but it's interesting. I can't tell you how confused I was when I got my wife's midsize DJ and tried to set it for the first time. I had to turn the crown backwards to get the hands to move. I thought I'd gone insane! I just assumed all the three-handed date models had the same movement.

I wear a 36mm DJ and while the mid-size YM is 35mm, I find it to wear much smaller than my DJ for some reason. I've tried on the mid-size on a few occasions and it just felt too small on me.

I'd really encourage you to try it on before buying. You may or may not feel the same way about it as I do.

Yes, the 2235 movement works in reverse order as compared with the 3135.

Hmmmm.......selling a 16610 (a fast seller) for a mid-size YM (a very slow seller).

Hope you don't change your mind at a later day or regret this move, as the YM mid-size will take ages to off load and you will also take a hit on the resale.

The 16610, by contrast......is one of the best watches to have in your collection.

I hate to help out a Red Sox fan but...it's for a good cause.
My wife is 5' and has the Midsize, anything bigger would be too big, I am 6'1" and have the full size, anything smaller would be too little -in my humble Yankee fan opinion

That's her wearing them in the photo.

Thanks Pete. Yeah, that 35mm is small. I like the 40mm. I guess I should just hang on to the 16610 Sub and forget the YM for now. I am also 6'1" 200# and would probably look like a sissy with the 35mm on.

And judging by the conflicting time on your watch and your wife's watch I am guessing you don't wear the YM all that often?

I am also a member of the 200 lb + club... but I am big boned!!! lol

I dont wear the YM as much as the Sub but that picture was a quick shot the night I bought it, that's why the time conflicts with the mrs. (and the plastic is still on the bezel) Also, we just got a watch winder so it makes it easier to switch off whenever I feel like it. The PCL on the YM takes some time to get used to, I don't deal with scratches very well.

The mid size is too small imho... try the full size if you are interested in a YM (itself not big at 40mm). I would also think v hard before trading a 16610 against a YM...

Cheers

IMHO -The mid-size YM is a ladies watch, no matter how small your wrist are a man should go with a full-size YM! 40mm is not that big even for small wrists!

Also the crown is smaller on the Yacht-Masters which aren't 40mm & I think this takes away from the overrall look.

I bought the mid-size for my girlfriend...and what a stunning watch it is.

I never really considered the YM but when I see hers sparkling away I really like it now.

Think the mid-size is more for women though...however STUNNING watch IMO.

Cheers

I have a 6.8 in wrist and just don't care for the Midsize YM at all....

I enjoy my DJ, 40 mm Sports models and even loved & miss my DSSD.

On a adult male with a wrist of 6.5 or bigger I think you have to go with the full size YM

If you but the mid size I hope you love it as it will be hard to sell if you change your mind.

Isn't the YM40 a much thinner watch than a GMT or Sub? Are there any YM owners that could post a comparison side shot? TIA.

I don't have a comparison shot, but, yes, the YM is only 12 mm in height as compared with the 13 mm height of the Sub.

This chart might help.......

Indeed! I learn something new here every day.

I've never met a Rolex I didn't like (read: I like 'em all). So knowing the subtle differences can help narrow down the next purchase!
