Exp II White Photoshop~What Could the Changes Look Like??
Can anyone out there create the "new" Exp II white if there are to be changes made at the show this coming March?
I'm sure there are some photoshop experts out there who can take all the assumed changes and create a prototype. Let see them! |

I hope this does NOT happen! Aside from the addition of a Triplock, the Explorer II is perfect as is, IMO.

I don't think the expy ll will get much Basel time. Sub should be the star.
However, does anyone recall the most # of model changes launched at Basel in the past??? |

David, surprised to hear you say that, given the number of times you've posted about the twinlock contributing to the Explorer-II's wear comfort--one of Expy's best traits.
I personally have debated the merits of Expy with the triplock. I've said quite a few times that a black-dial Explorer-II could be a great "one-and-only" Rolex for active wearers, great for running, hiking, beach, surfing--but also able to fit under a french cuff shirt, and not easily recognizable (beneficial when you're traveling to unfamiliar places). My only concern with Expy in the water is this: twice in the two years that I've been wearing mine, the crown has wiggled open. I am always carefull to tighten the crown finger tight after opening, so this has happened from the crown rubbing up against my wrist (probably during running, tennis, etc.). I know that the watch is still water resistant with the crown open, but not something I would want to have happen in the ocean. Of course, the triplock crown screws down much tighter due to friction from additional (and probably thicker) gaskets, so this would never happen with a Sub.

I personally think the Exp-II should be left untouched............the only exception being the option of the Super Jubilee as well!!

Hey David! I've been enjoying life away from computers. I'm in school again, doing a one-year program in Charlottesville, VA. No desk. No office hours. No outlook dinging every three minutes. No phone. No clients.
Ahhhhh..... Only "drawback" is that I don't have the monotony of office life sending me to the TRF forum pages for a 20-minute diversion a few times a day. I only made my way back here the last few days because we've had snow on the ground since 18 December...I can't play golf, and I've done every household chore and read every book in the house!!

i don't see it happening... i would love to see some sort of return/tip-of-the-hat to the original exp2, but it seems like they would wait for an anniversary.
also, do you all think that because the exp2 is not a big seller, it is more of a reason for change or less or a reason for a change - as rolex may want to spend more time and money catering to another, bigger seller. should that last sentence have a question mark? i know that one did ; ) |

Green 24-hour hand might be a cool update as an anniversary model.

The bezel could be polished as well to match the PCLs.
Actually it could be a nice dress watch with a GMT function, more or less a GMT Milgauss ;-)

It is not a bad try. I have still to see something "bad" from you (at least when it comes to photos...)
That said, this is too much for my taste. I like the current smaller hour indicies. Perhaps I could live with larger hour and minute hands (for even better legibility). Actually I do not understand the maxi dial. Do you really need hour markers that are more legible than the hands? Not me. I use the hands to tell time, not the markers. Best, A |
