Bond which Rolex
I am sure that all of you prefer and agree that the only watch James Bond can ware is a Rolex (no offense towards Omega). If Rolex become the new sponsor, which they might - Daniel Craig practically only ware Rolex at interviews and so forth - could this be an indicator of a shift (my interpretation). However if they shift which new Rolex model would you hope / think it would be?

Hello Dalberg!!
As a Rolex and Bond fan, IŽd love to see Daniel Craig going back to a no guards Sub, or as the fictional Bond an Explorer (not expressely mentioned as that in the novel, of course, but I feel that was the Rolex Flemming was referring to in the novels) Best cordial regards, Abel PS: No offense intended to Omega. I own one JB Seamaster too, and it is a wonderful watch indeed.

Great Question.....
I think the SDDS is too obvious and maybe too big for Daniel.... Often sponsors like to showcase a new model....not out yet,to get people excited about it. eg Ford Mondeo in Casino Royale. In which case, right now it would be a perfect launch platform for the "NEW" Sub. Only problem is the next movie is not due to start filming until the end of 2010The new Sub will have landed at the AD's by that time. So maybe a new SD replacement/update!!!!!!! ....could be coordinated with the launch of the next movie. |

I doubt James Bond is changing anything. He is still listed here.

I think an explorer would suit Bonds character more than a Submariner. JMHO.

I doubt that we will see a change back to Rolex.. Rolex has never paid for ad placement in movies and Omega is paying millions of dollars for the privilege.
However if it ever happened, he's a Naval Commander............ it would still be the Sub, naturally...

Omegas deal with the company that makes the Bond films ended in 2009 and they have not yet confirmed they have made another deal, so it is possible Rolex could be the new Bond watch. We will have to wait and see if they still go with Omega or let Daniel wear a Rolex, we should know soon when shots from filming start to emerge.

If he still drives his '64 Aston Martin....why not the 6538 Submariner.

I personally cannot WAIT to see what Bond will wear in the next film. I am a very big Bond fan, and always believed that he should wear a Rolex. While I have mostly Omegas in my collection, a Rolex will (to me anyway) will always be the "true" Bond watch.
It will be very interesting to see what he will wear in this coming film. Either Omega again (which IMO, he probably will wear an Omega again), or Rolex. If he does go back to Rolex, the media/watch community will go crazy (in a good way I'm sure). If he does go back to Rolex, he'll probably wear a SS date sub, or Explorer. |

I'd like hime to have the new Secret release Double Red sub ceramic. Could you imagine going to the new Bond movie to see a top secret Rolex making it's debut on the big screen. The AD would have hell to pay come Monday morning if we couldn't buy one when the store opens. I'd love to see a new limited production watch for collectors. That would be too cool.
