Icon8 am I too picky?

Hi Folks,
I got my second Rolex today a No Date Sub 14060 from a well known business that I researched here before I made the decision to buy. My excitement quickly dissipated when I wore the watch outside and noticed a tiny piece of lint on the dial face. Now this totally bugs the hell out of me. I couldn't notice the lint indoors but even my aging eyes could see it outdoors.
I called their customer service and they tried to look at photographs of the watch to see if it could be found, obviously they couldn't see it.
However they agreed to accept the return of the watch to allow the in house watch maker to inspect it.
Now I'm not so sure I want the watch back. I would just prefer a refund and find a better model here on TRF.
Maybe its just cognitive dissonance? I'm not sure but the watch just didn't "sing" to me like my New Sea-Dweller does.
The whole experience just doesn't sit well with me. Am I being to picky?
any thoughts?

No, its not new, it was "pre-loved". As it was explained to me by Customer Service. The in house Watch-maker may have allowed the lint in the case during his inspection of the used watch. Its a circa 1993 model 14060.

In that case, I'd take advantage of the return they offered and look for another 14060. They are not in short supply.

As it is a 1993 model the chances are it has probably had a couple of services ( not a bad thing) & the lint may be left from one of them.
I would be inclined to let them have it back & sort it out, then make a decision on keeping it.

Let them take the lint out. All they have to do is open the case back, take out the stem, turn the movement over and use a blower. Nothing needs to be touched so I would not worry.

Thanks for the advice Gents, I really want to enjoy the watch. Its just that I'm well "dis-enchanted" with the Business I bought the watch from. I know i said it was a "tiny" piece of lint but, maybe that was a bad choice of words. Its big enough that I wonder how it made it out of the shop like that.

Send it back, get a refund, and buy one from DavidSW, SteveMulholland, TempoKing, etc. etc. etc. Help out this community, not a grey market business. Help out your friends!!!

It happens....RSC NY even returned a freshly serviced Day-Date to me with a nice piece of lint on the dial. They took it into the back room and 10 minutes later it was all good.

Not too picky at all! But I would give them the benefit of the doubt, and see if they can get the bit of lint out. I am sure it will be no problem for the watch maker, and you will breath a sigh of relief. It sounds like you really want the watch, so let them have a chance to do their thing. And I sincerely hope that it works out fine.

Although it wouldn't bother me, I can understand how it could be a let down for someone else.

I'm not sure if it's the lint that bothers you, or if the watch just didn't sing to you. In either case, I suggest you go for what you want: a different 14060, DSSD, or whatever gets your attention at the AD.

Your Rolex should capture your emotions, not just be a watch that you settled for.

Exactly Jib......It sounds to me you weren't happy anyway aside from the lint!!! Your Rolex should be a statement to YOU,nothing else....Try a few on and find the one that makes you happy,lint or no lint!!

I received my watch back from local RSC service with dust on the dial, I took it straight back and they fixed the problem.
have you never made a mistake ?
