Tough to tell by those pics.
I am no expert but something about the writing on the dial does not seem right. Especially the marking below the 6.
Does it come with papers?

Unless it has been recently serviced, I would figure in the neighborhood of $555-$600 or so for a service on top of that

Thats even too good for a TT without the serti dial.
I would think you would have to add 1500 or so to that price.
Is it a private deal or a jeweller?

It's a private deal and the guy is willing to get it authenticated at the place of my choice.

Hey, it would be worth looking into if he is willing to go somewhere of your choice. Does not really cost you anything and you could find a real deal.
Hopefully it's legit. It's possible that he may not realize if it is a fake.

Always be very careful when buying private. Sounds like a good deal though, I'd still push my luck a little and make an offer. You have nothing to loose

In general, but particularly with a Serti dial, be extremely cautious. There are tons of aftermarket Serti dials available (just check out eBay). While prices like this seem very attractive, unless you are really, really up on your ability to identify and authenticate, take it to an AD. If the dial is a fake (aftermarket - call it what you will), you just burned $3k.

Good luck, because, on a positive note, you may be getting a helluva deal!

Sounds TOO good, but I have not had any luck selling my "Z" series, so it might just be the market. Make sure to get an appraisal from whomever checks it out. That will help if you ever decide to trade or sell it.
