Two types of green?

I just learn today that Rolex made two types of green bezels. I am sure mostly everybody knew this, but i thought it was pretty cool.

I believe the one on the right-the lighter color was on the Y, and F models--and perhaps the D as well.

I swaped my light green for a darker green. The darker green just looks better to me. Over the years, the darker bezel will look lighter anyway if it has any time in sunlight.

I sold my Y 4 or so years ago--wish I didn't! Oh well--I now have the darker M with no engraved rehaut thanks to Greg--aka Mosco.

I thought the light green was for the D series (and the few Fs released?), and it got darker late in the Z series.

It was light for the Y --which was the first series--there were few of them--I had one and sold it--bad me--then the F's--which there are more of --not sure about D--definitely Z,M and V.

Thanks for the info . . . I never realized that the green bezel came in two shades! I'd love to see them side-by-side in person. Every time I stop into my AD the watchmaker says the LV "has my name on it." (He knows I fancy the watch) Now I'll say . . . "Oh yeah, which shade?"

The one on the right is an earlier LV - probably a Y or early F.

Maybe it's just the lighting, but it seems the bezel font is also bolder on the one on the left.

Here are some clues:
Compare the following -
The coronet
The spacing of "Oyster Perpetual Date"
The four line font and spacing
The font of the bezel insert
The four in "40" on the bezel insert (already mentioned)
The five in "50" on the bezel insert
The hash marks under "Swiss Made" (very difficult to see in these pics)

Also the "Swiss made" spans a full five minutes on the earlier ones and is closer together on the newer ones.
