Rolex and Rocky

I was watching Rocky 2, and there was a scene when he was purchasing 3 gold Rolexes. Did anyone see?

He may have started out with a Rolex, but he now wears a Panerai and is actually credited with singlehandedly popularizing Panerai with the non-military world.

Yep, it is.

He found Panerai in the 90s after OP did a brief public release in 1993. He bought at least one, and liked it so much he approached OP to do a run of 200 or so watches, with SLYTECH on the dial and SS's signature on the caseback. He wore them in movies and handed them out to friends/colleagues (including 'Arnold') and this basically got people asking about the watch and helped OP become a bit of an underground cult.

Unlike other watch brands, Panerai does not pay anyone, sportsman/woman or film celebrity to wear their watches, nor do they pay for product placement in movies or TV. If you see a celeb wearing a tuna can, it's cuz they want to, not cuz they're getting $$ to.

As much as I like Panerai, it is in spite of the hollywood fascination. Especially the likes of Ahole Arnie and others.

And you would never hear a mention of Panerai in a Rocky movie, almost like a Ferrari mention would not happen in Days of Thunder. Some things just don't mix.
