My watch has been stolen and is being held for ransom...

...by my wife

Last year I purchased a vintage Datejust 1601 and I took it to the RSC in Fukuoka for an overhaul. However, I'd forgotten about an agreement I'd made with my wife that I wouldn't buy another Rolex until I lost some weight (oops ).

Today, I came back from work and I was thinking about taking some pictures of my newly restored Datejust now on a strap. But when I opened my watch box all I saw was a small note where my baby used to be .

(If you want your watch, lose weight! Get slim!)

She said she'll give it back to me once I've lost the 10kgs I've gained since we got married. On the bright side, she didn't nick my Subby

So, my mission is to lose 10kgs.

Wish me luck I'll keep you posted. I'm off for a run.

Not funny...

With all the recent BS that's been going on with our members, my heart skipped a beat when I read the title... Glad it wasn't anything like Tristan's or Joeychitwood's situation.... Phew.... Don't do that to us, mate!

Now get yer arse on that treadmill, lose 10 lb's and post some pics ASAP. Of the watch, not the 'before/after' pics, of course.

Dam. I guess no ramen and Sapporo beers with me are in your future.

Dude ohanami is coming. We must drink and barbeque!

Am I helping?

Hang in there. You can do it and I met your wife. She is so nice. She has your best interests at heart as you well know.

Thats great that she cares so much to hold your watch as ransom.... Let me tell you that 10 kilo is no big deal...... If you can make time to run 2 to 3 times a week and consume less calories you should be wearing your watch in no time. the difficult part is keeping it off...has she made any stipulations about that???
ps. the most difficultpart about loosing weight is skipping the alcohol. If you continue to drink beer or wine it will take much longer to loose the weight...
good luck,
pete

My wife thinks that is a great idea...(they run in packs like wild dingo's these wives...)

She just commented that the same motivation might make me (finally) quit smoking.

Now I can never take off my Sub. Ever.

I may have the clasp spot welded.

Yeah, thoughtful as a kick in the pants As to my weight loss program. I think my main problem has been lack of activity. As a teacher I am usually sitting or standing at the board, not a lot of activity. So, I've decided to be more active, which means walking with the wife everyday for about an hour, going to Aikido at least three times a week, running, cycling or skipping every other day, stretching every morning and doing body weight strength training. Nothing too strenuous

Cheers bro Well we'll see. I'm a believer in moderation. I've never believed that going cold turkey with food was a good idea. Moderation is the key I think...and keeping active, which I didn't But we should definitely catch up next time I come to Fukuoka. I'll email you

Yeah, I don't drink a lot as it is now, but I do enjoy the odd beer now and then. Usually on Sunday night with the father in-law.

Sorry bro, I should've thought before posting and added a NSFW to the title (in this case Not Safe For Wife ) Hopefully she'll forget about it before it gets to spot welding.

I thought about just taking the hit and getting another watch, but then I thought again

Don't give her any ideas Kyle. At the moment, I've managed to steer her away from men's watches and towards the more dainty Cartiers. If she ever realizes that she could pull off a datejust, it'll be history. Thanks for the encouragement though

Good luck on your weight loss program. You know I had gained more than 10 Kgs since I got married but I was able to shed up to 5 kgs..could never go below that. I keep going back and forth with my exercise routine and that is what has been holding be back. Dont do that mistake - once you start your exercise routine stick to it until you meet your goal.. Good luck!!

Yes, that is the hard part, having stamina and endurance and going through with it. Not just today or tomorrow but two weeks from now, three months, a year. That is hard but when done properly gives great satisfaction.

Don't know if you are "required" to drink for work or socially, but I lost about 4 kg in 2 weeks when I stopped drinking liquor / beer (which I love).

I stopped drinking sugar-laden drinks and all liquor and lost a total of 8 kg in 5 weeks.

Hope this helps you getting the watch back.

Yep, I do see a note in Japanese ;
"If you want your watch, lose weight!, get slim!".

Like "Gaijin" has stated Ohanami is coming very soon (lots of BBQ, SAKE, BEER etc. etc.).

Good Luck
