Daytona in 1960 ? more like 1970 I would have thought . Have to look that up . The red "Daytona" was introduced with the 16520 (when the valjoux was replaced by the zenith 4030 ) that was in 1991 I think

Well ref 6238, 6239, 6240, 6241, 6262, 6263 6264 and 6265 were produced from 1961 till 1987.And the dials may or may not have the word Daytona written on the dial .The rarest the so called Paul Newman dials had a four colour dial option direct from Rolex with the word Daytona from mid 60s on from there Daytona range..

The "Daytona" was introduced in 1965. Rolex introduced the name "LeMans" for the Cosmograph in 1964 but then apparently thought better of it.

My vintage Dayton (new In 1982) and my Zenith Daytona (1998) both had "Daytona" in red. The think the Daytona started aprearing on the dials in the 70's when Rolex began sponsoring the Daytona races..right?

Rolex did not begin sponsoring the 24 Hours at Daytona Race until many years later. In fact, this race did not exist in 1965. The name may have appeared on the dial later, but the "Daytona" Cosmograph was unveiled in 1965.

From 1965:
Note that the ad says Rolex was the official timepiece of the Daytona International Speedway in 1965. At the time, the Daytona Speedway was known chiefly for hosting NASCAR events. The 24 Hours of Daytona race came later. Also note that Rolex previously introduced its Cosmograph model as the "LeMans" in 1964.

No kidding. Imagine what a '64 Rolex LeMans Chronograph would be worth today!
