Rolex 5513 Please help
Hi everybody!
What's the fair price for this watch? Any after market parts? Any comments will be appreciated. Thanks

That watch has been beat up, it must have been worn every day.

The crown should have three dots, I don't see any.

I noticed it too (about the crown). The bracelet and clasp are also from later models

Looks like it's had a hard life, and been polished a lot. Lug holes show just how much, they're now nearly poking out the top of the lugs. Even all the excess polishing hasn't and won't get that big gash out of the case though. CG's look worked on too. I'd like to see the movement. Maybe the dots have been polished off the crown too.....although no dots on crown is correct on some period subs like that.
How much? If it's original, real and the movement is good no more than $2500 in that state. |

Alex, as Earl pointed out, the crown should definitely have three dots ..... my 5513 which I purchased new in 1978 has them.

That's 1978, this watch is a lot earlier, 1962 ish. I've definitely seen subs with no dots before. Not saying this definitely is one of them but it happened.

Another Six 5513's without the trip dots from the same era and there are at least as many again i've just seen too...
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Rolex-Submarin...item20afa2bdba http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Authentic-ROLE...item5885eba721 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ROLEX-SUBMARIN...item5886315911 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ROLEX-SUBMARIN...item3efd34a11d http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VINTAGE-ROLEX-...item3efd37109d http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Rolex-5513-Sub...item23056ee522 And here's the crown in question itself for sale on it's own http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Very-rare-SS-R...item4a9ee983a1 So the trip lock crowns often seen on early subs are often incorrect, not original and have been added by Rolex at later services. |

I think the big chunk out of the case is the biggest issue. I reckon Rolex would want to replace that case due to that and the uneven, over polishing if they were to accept to work on it.
But if the movement is good and running strong the watch is all genuine i'd still pay $2500 for it and wear it on a corvus Bond NATO as it is. |

Good point ...... and it probably would be expensive to replace.

Not sure exactly. Mid to late 60's i think. But possibly also different years on different models to confuse things even more.

the crown is correct and might even be original to the watch. no dots
like that one, where also used on some daytona's (the 7mm types) the watch is not a 62 year watch. later > > > > |
