Bezel insert for 16610 S/S...
I recently fixed the bezel on my S/S Sub using the post on this site...it was full of crud and didn't click properly when rotating the bezel. Now it works like it should . I was wondering if anyone here knew where to buy an original Rolex bezel insert for the 16610 S/S Sub. I looked on ebay and all that seem to be displayed are aftermarket replacements that look like s**t. Any help would be appreciated. TIA.

You can get one installed by RSC.

Montecristo, I am attempting to do the install myself because I did the removal and cleaning of the bezel following the directions posted on this site. I know some will think that it should be left to the pros but I like to tinker and I feel confident enough to handle this because of another posting showing step by step removal of the bezel insert.

Well you need someone with a rolex parts account. You won't find a brand new one for sale on ebay.

If you walked into an AD who also serviced, they might sell you the bezel insert...
Probably depends on Rolex policy. The guy I bought my second GMTII from gave me a new all black bezel insert for it (the pepsi one was a little color faded). I think it's AM (looks different from underneath). I snapped it in myself the other day... looks good to me, however I'll swap back to the pepsi one before bringing it to Rolex for their service. Better safe than sorry. Here's a pic...

This isn't necessarily true. I often see genuine inserts for sale on eBay. You just have to keep your eyes open and be willing to pay a premium price.

Yes, you obviously must be careful and use common sense. Generally the replicas are easy to spot on eBay. Obviously one guy with dozens of bezel insert listings is not what you're looking for. These should be listed as replicas and are often all priced the same. Once you weed those out you're usually left with a few more legitimate lisings. Then let your eBay insticts take over. I always look for the Rolex wax paper that accomodates new genuine inserts. Also, of course, take a good look at the seller - his feedback, what he's previously sold, etc..

I'll start checking ebay again and try to ferret out an original insert. Hey Tonelar nice Nato strap on the GMT . I'm waiting for my "Bond" Nato strap to arrive so that I put it on my S/S Sub. I'll probably get flamed for putting on a nylon strap but I like the look of the "Bond" to dress the Sub down a bit . Thanks to all for the responses.

You won't get any flames from me. I think Sport Rolex's look great on NATO straps!

Very cool... actually my straps are pretty much Zulu... except for 2 nato bonds and one rhino.
Here are the bonds on my Exp II and O&W Yao Special. You're really gonna like it on your scuba watch.

I mean it will probably cost you just about 30-50 bucks for the bezel from RSC and they will probably polish your watch while changing your bezel for you for free. Call to see if they can do it on the spot right away, its easier than to taking the chance and get a knock off one or scratch yours doing it. You are in NY right? Think of it as a free cleaning, pressure test along with the new bezel. (they will take your old one though) |
