Any Musicians in the House??
I have another passion besides my family and my watches. It is music. I have be playing guitar since i was about 13 yrs old. I LOVE the blues and R&R. Played in a variety of bands along the way.
Since many of you are collectors of fine items, including Rollies I figured I would put out a few pix of my pride and musical joy. A vintage 1952 Fender Telecaster. The history behind the Telecaster is much like the history behind the Sub and GMT. Long, winding, and very interesting. Probably Fenders most popular guitar(maybe the Stratocaster also). If you have listened to the likes of Elvis Presley, the Rolling Stones(Keith Richard's signature guitar), Muddy Waters, Albert Collins, Danny Gatton to name just a few......you have heard the 'Tele' in action. It is a piece of musical history. |

Nice guitar more of a keyboard player myself, love a bit of jazz use to have a hamond B3 with Leslie speaker what a sound. Then the keyboard portables came along, then had a Yamaha DX7,now have a Yamaha Tyros, but nothing can replicate the sound of the Hamond. My Grandson is very good on electic and classical guitar, and he is getting to grips with my keyboard, and we quite often have a blast together, they say old rockers never die.

I think the Hamond is an awesome keyboard, a few friends of mine had them years ago. My wife wants to get an electric keyboard. She is a classical pianist. It is great that you play with your grandson, music is very important for kids, and old geezers like us Keep on rockin' |

I'm a semi pro guitarist I suppose you would say.
My current line up includes: 1962 Fender Stratocaster (in Fiesta red. Its a slab board Strat made in April '62). This one has been gigged by Keith Richards with the Stones back in late '62. (he borrowed in off my father) 2003 John Suhr Carve Top Standard (in Trans Honey with Les Paul brown back. Built by John himself for me with similar spec to the guitar he made for Mark Knopfler back in 1988) 2003 Rick Turner Model 1 CP (built for me by Rick, similar to the guitar used by Lindsey Buckingham of Fleetwood Mac) 2001 Gibson 335 dot (in red) 2004 Fender Stratocaster (in a '54 sunburst. The "standard" US 50th Anniversary ltd edition) I'm also taking delivery of a new Turner Model 1 next week hopefully. I use a Fender '65 Deluxe Reverb Reissue amp, cables by Monster, Planet Waves and Zaola. My pedal setup includes : Budda Bud Wah, Electro Harmonix Big Muff (Russian), Boss SD-1 Overdrive, MXR Dynacomp Compressor, Boss TU-2 Tuner, Boss CE-5 Chorus, Boss DD-3 Digital Delay, MXR Phase 90 Phaser and an Ernie Ball Volume Pedal. |

1962 Strat sounds like an interesting piece of history. My pedal arrangement has thinned out of the years, but I am looking to get a Jimi Hendrix Wah Wah, by Dunlop. I had one before and I loved it. Got any pix of the axes, love to see them. |

'57 RI Les Paul with my Marshall JCM 800. I actually prefer the sound of this guitar through the Fender Bassman. It's very bluesy.

The question was about music, not just noise......
My father was a music instructor at one time. He could play any keyboard (piano, and electric keyboard), and a wide variety of stringed instruments such as the guitar, banjo, mandolin, steel guitar...... At one time I took lessons on the electric keyboard (a Hammond - two levels of keys plus pedals) and had a few competitions and performances. I also played in the high school band (tuba - long story) but gave it all up around grade 10. I now prefer to just listen to music rather than make it. |

Great collection. Love the Strat, I have a '84 White with Rosewood neck. That finish on the Suhr is to die for, what kind of wood is that. The sustain must go on forever |

Here are a few more. My pair of '54 Les Paul Juniors and my '57 Les Paul Special. (Unfortunately, I had to sell one of the Les Paul Juniors. Only 823 were made in the first year of production and I owned two. ) Here is the one I sold, with matching Les Paul and Les Paul Jr. amps from 1954 and 1955 (I still have the amps). Here are some of my other Les Pauls.

Finally, a true acustic player. The best sound of all. Electric is noise compared to an acoustic.

Y'all have very nice collections. I have an epiphone acoustic/electric, an epiphone 12-string (played better than the Martin I tried). An Aria Pro II electric. I also have an Epiphone MB-250 Banjo, a Gibson RB-250 circa 1951, a Gibson Mandolin.
