The seller gives the usual father's watch doesn't know anything. He gives the date of manufacture 1991 but the serial number would make it 1981; dad must not remember when he bought the watch. He calls it a submariner but it is a GMT.

I'm gonna reserve judgement - this could be the real thing and just a very very uninformed seller - he's already added an update to his page.

firstly, ignoring the damage, compare the font and spacing on the bezel insert......same, then do the same with the dial and dial font......same, hand stack and hands.....same, then ask yourself what is actually wrong with the watch?

Safe, what is your concern on this GENUINE-LOOKING, old, worn-out and put-up wet GMT?

I see nothing that would send it to the "dark side" from the posted pics.

I asked about her discrepancy in the date of manufacture and if he father didn't know when he bought the watch. She said he can no longer communicate.

This is like a scam that isn't; like the funny bands Rolex had made all over the world by anybody and everybody.

I then stand corrected, the title threw me off.

The sale had all the marks of a scam; father's watch I don't know much about it and she called a GMT a Submariner; also the date of manufacture was 10 years off. Of course her jeweler not watchmaker told her the date. When I pointed out the wrong date she told me to not bid if I had doubts. That stinks of scam.

Much like contracted for Rolex bands look fake even though they are Rolex.

She is legit but not knowledgeable and is a very pleasant lady.
I believe her story and the watch is GREAT. BTW, her jeweler is
Ben Bridges.

cheers

So how old is the watch, 1981 or 1991?

As I said this is the scam that isn't and one never knows. Now if the seller had the work done and had the papers from Rolex she could have cleaned up. I'm now leaving detailed instructions about all of my pens and watches before I too can "no longer speak".
