I think you're very lucky my wife would kill me if I bought another Rolex. I wouldn't think twice other wise about bidding on it.

When a seller uses close ups like that of the dial, along with everything else shown in the listing, that really lowers the odds of it being a scam.

That's right the hands are Luminova but the dial appears to be tritium and is period correct.

The lug at 2 O'Clock appears to be a little on the thin side indicating that it has had some significant polishing.

The bracelet is not correct (although some say that the Submariner bracelet was offered as an option at the time) for historical purposes.

Also the bracelet looks to have some issues of significant wear & tear. When the watch was submitted to rolex for servicing I suspect that the bracelet was not submitted and the head only was submitted to Rolex.

I would doubt whether it would be safe for a watch of this value to be worn with that bracelet (look carefully) wear is quite significant.

Note that the seller says that the bracelet is not part of the auction.

But the bracelet and endlinks are available for purchase for an additional $500.

Many bidders may overlook this and bid higher thinking the bracelet is included.

This is a questionable practice IMHO to depict a watch with the bracelet attached and describe 'the watch' instead of 'the watch head'.

Some people will no doubt fail to see/read the small print of (bracelet and end links not included). Thus they may bid more than may otherwise be the case. The seller doesn't care because he just wants the highest price and can say to the buyer afterwards, "Well I stated in the auction the bracelet was not included."

Anyway, it does have some nice original attributes .

Why NOT to use an RSC for vintage !!

This is a classic example of why not to use the RSC to recon a vintage watch. There is now no way to get back the original hour/minuet hands, 24 hour hand, sweep hand. Rolex will not return them. Thus, the new owner will have need to seek out someone such as the forums own Steve Mulholland3 in order to return the watch to it's original state.
