Icon20 Who owns the oldest operating rolex here?

The oldest I have ever owned was a 1966 date.

My oldest is the Wilsdorf & Davis ladies pendant/pocket watch which Bob Ridley restored for us last year. The case hallmarks have been verified to 1908, the same year that Hans Wilsdorf registered the Tradename Rolex:

The photo essay of the restoration is here:

http://www.rolexforums.com/showthrea...ey+W%26amp%3BD

I guess it could be argued that it isn't actually a Rolex, given the date of manufacture.

Our oldest Rolex branded watch is Nancy's museum condition 1937 telephone dial, complete with original spring loaded bracelet:

This circa 1940 British miltary pocket watch is still running strong:

The rest are all newer, around 1950 and up.

JJ bought his first Rolex in 1925, just after his 40th birthday.

Rolex Unicorn from 1922 silver case, dial un-signed quite common in the early days of Rolex, only about 1 in 5 had Rolex on dial.

movement scan.

Rolex Unicorn scan from 1924 in S.steel, and at this time SSteel was more expencive than silver.Movement is working but needs a bit of TLC
on hands and dial.

19

Rolex from 1923/4 same case as the Unicorn but 17 jewel movement and still keeps remakable time.

All watches still running and keeping very good time.

Beautiful, Padi!

So many interesting features on them. I love the applied indices on the SS Unicorn and the hands on the first and third.

Well Al the S.Steel Unicorn is with my watchmaker friend, the movement is fine he is trying to clean the dial and replace the second hand. The hands are quite unusual and the correct second hand has like a U shape on the short part.

The oldest I have is a 1953 6150 Explorer. My grandfather bought it new and when he died a year later, my Dad then wore it for all of his life. I wear it a few months a year.

Kyle, in polite society, you stop counting after someone reach their eleventy first b-day.

Great to have a look at some of the true heritage watches.
