Shipping a Rolex to Australia?
Hi all
Just wondering if anyone has had BNIB Rolex watches shipping from the USA to Australia? - What shipping method was used? - Who did you purchase it from? - How did customs treat it? - How was the item marked on the shipping declaration? - Were you liable for any taxes or duties? - Did they tamper with the packaging at all? Thanks very much for your help |

- TRF member - Not sure - 'mechanical watch' @full value - Custom convert the US$ value to AU$ then apply 10% taxes and some smaller fees - No, mine was ok. I never worry about australian custom, as long as you buy from trusted seller, fully insured the watch, prepare to pay for the tax & duties and declare the true value (for insurance purpose) you'll be fine With the current exchange rate, even after paying tax & duties, buying from the US will work out cheaper than buying locally from AD or Grey in AU |

Thanks for the info guys i'm still contemplating whether to fly over there and buy one or just to buy one and have it shipped over. From the 2 posts it seems they don't charge GST is that the norm or is it the luck of the draw?

If you go to the US and buy a watch, can you simply put it on your wrist and wear it back to Australia?

Hi Dj,
Fedex Reputable Jeweller in Ohio Gently, I hope Mechanical Watch Full GST plus duty (only applicable over $1K I believe) Not to my knowledge I believe some sellers are willing to understate purchase price of watch on customs declaration so that you pay less GST. This obviously affects insurance coverage. Your call - your risk. Good Luck. |
