Great pictures Jocke myself use Auto-solve metal polish when acrylic crystal badly scratched. But how the hell did the watch get in that state soap and water is a Rolex best friend..

It looks great, but why create work for yourself? Why not just take it off when you do manual work such as working on cars, landscaping, etc?

Good job Jocke. That was pretty dirty! What the heck do you do for a living, grave digger??
(LOL). I wear my GMTIIC almost everyday. I soon will be setting up a new office and will be setting up the computer systems etc. I don't know if I should were my GMT or not. I can be careful but things happen. I sure don't want to spend a week without it! And, it is not a beater!

Jocke, that is a great and easy to understand story of how to repair/clean/restore a watch.
I wish I had those tools andexperience - it will cost me $300+ to receive that kind of service.

The post of the removal of parts of your 1601 Rolex was a excellent illustration. Could you be more informative on the process of which you cleaned the crystal of the watch when you were finished with it and what type of cleaning solution did you use on you parts. Could you elaborate on the feet that kept the movement into place, do they need to be remove first before the movement need to removed from the case, and the screw on the crown shaft does that need to be removed to be able to remove the shaft out of the case also.

Thanks for the great post.
This made me want to learn how to work on watches so much, I just bought a starter tool set online! I'm also amazed at the durability of the DJ. I have never given them much thought (sport watches are my thing) but this may change. Thanks again for the inspiration. ft |
