Yellow Gold... An age thing????

I've never been attracted to yellow gold in any shape or form, but now I've turned 40, I keep looking enviously at the YG Anniversary and TT GMTIIC.

Do you think this is, in fact, an age thing??

I really don't know how long I'm going to be able to resist.

I disagree. It is personal taste. My first Rolex is a 2 tone. My first YG watch (DayDate) was bought when I turned 31. Now there are several 2 tones and YG's in the collection.

Definately personal taste. I've liked gold since long as I can remember as a child.

Certainly more of a personal choice rather than an age issue. While I've never owned a gold watch I've always admired them and think they can be quite beautiful. Case in point, the YG Daytona w/ Newman dial... OMG!

I'm not sure, but I think I may like Gold. Steel & Gold. Yep...pretty sure!!!

Of course, I am old (relatively speaking).

I think its an age thing... I just turned 30... and have never thought about getting a gold or 2 tone watch in my life before...
Recently I started to admire 2 tone watches more and more... ie blusey and 2 tone GMT... maybe i can wait until I turn 40 to buy one.

I think it's personal taste. I've always liked yellow gold and felt a few hundred dollars worth of gold really enhance the look of a watch. Plus it's 100% "functional", you get to enjoy every time you look at your watch.

Gold is BEAUTIFUL! It is sort-of precious and investment grade. It took me sometime to feel comfortable with mine. Now that I am comfortable, I really need a SS or Rubber something.. Its a Balance issue.

All things being equal, I tend to be drawn more to Rose Gold. Sometimes the pure yellow gold look just seems a little much at times. On the other hand, rose gold has a more sophisticated, elegant look. Just my personal opinion. But long story short, gold is class!

I think it depends on the individual. For some (actually I think for many) taste does change with age. There are however many other variables like income, job, friends, today's fashion trend, etc. I used to love baggy ass jeans and jerseys. I now favor a collared shirt and shorts. I favored SS before, now YG

Funny, I actually purchased all YG ladies DJ president for my wife while we were in our 20's. Then her taste shifted to platinum so I got her a platinum DJ with diamonds. I don't think it's an age thing, just a matter of personal taste.

Age.

As I get older, a WG DD is starting to call my name.

I'm not old enough for YG yet.

It's AGE. I never like YG until I hit my 35.
Here is my time (watch) line for owning rolex:
25-35 - SS
35-45 - TT (now)
45-55 - YG
55-65 - WG/PT
65+ anything goes... ;)

Age

Yes; it's an age thing. I didn't like YG until my late teens.

Gold is and always has been a beautiful, cherished metal. You either like it or don't, I suppose, but I don't get this whole age thing.

i think it's an age thing and i think it depends on where abouts in the world your from.for me 39 year old brit i think all yellow gold looks too old manish too flashy and too chavvy although i'm starting to not mind tt as much as i used to. but what do i know i will probably be lusting after a yg dd in 10 years.

Why buy a yellow gold Rolex when you can have a white gold Rolex?

I don't think age has much to do with it, because at any age it is going to say, "I have lots of money!"

Two tone isn't so bad in terms of perceived expense. White gold is only going to be noticed as expensive by people who know the watch only comes in white gold. In either case the yellow gold gets scratched fairly easily IME.

Bought my first DD at 24 and never got a cross look. Just wear what you want.

I've found my tastes have gone in the opposite direction.

When I was younger, it was YG or nothing. As I got older, I learned to appreciate the understated more than the bold, and now will not wear anything but SS.

Guess it's a matter of personal taste, and what goes on your wrist should be entirely up to you.
