Alternative bracelets for 16710....

On a review of the GMT 16710, the oyster bracelet was said to be cheap and not in keeping with an expensive watch. The remedy was to get a new Super Jubilee bracelet. Can anybody tell me 1) Will the bracelet off the new 116710 GMT IIc fit a 16710 has anyone tried it or is the case and pins the wrong shape and size ? 2) how come a Super Jubilee will fit it ? 3) How much would a new 116710 GMT IIc bacelet cost, if it could be fitted in the UK ? 4) How much would a Super jubilee cost in the UK. ? Has anybody done any of these mods ?

1-I think I remember some one doing that mod and it did fit.
2-By shear luck. And it's not a perfect fit. Better on the GMT than the Exp II because of the bezel overhang.
3-Don't know.
4-Yes, I've installed a super jubilee on a GMT II.

The oyster bracelet is not cheap, it is light and super comfortable with a nice small clasp. The classic GMT's have the same bracelet as the Explorer II's, both watches including their bracelets will take a beating and last a lifetime.

X2. It's over priced but it will take a beating and has been time tested for years.

Super has the "hidden" clasp and solid links ala Dan Pierce's above. The older jubilee has hollow links (much lighter) and the rectangular clasp.

Luke, you will have to fit a Super yourself. It is easy. I bought my 63200 incl spring bars in the UK and can tell you what you need to do... PM if keen

Not exactly what you are describing, but shows what can be done...

Exp II + GMT IIc bracelet & clasp
http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=68507

GMT Master II + Glidelock clasp
http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=70639

Cheers

Fantastic links, thanks! I'm not a huge of the super jubilee on the Explorer II, but the upgraded oyster? VERY NICE.

For now, the watch is new to me, so I won't entertain changing it, but it's good to know it's possible.
