Help needed... what to get next...
Evening Guys,
Really facing some difficult decisions here... I want a new addition so the question is.. do I get a Yacht-Master (16622) or a GMT IIC (116710LN)? In my collection I have:
So a good selection of SS models. I love the Platty but it doesn't really do much other than tell the time whereas the GMT I can use when I go abroad... but then again the GMT is very similar to the Sub and the Platty is a very versatile piece that would really stand out and make my collection come together.. Would be interested to hear what you guys have to say... Pics would be great too

I'd vote for the GMT IIc - for me, it's everything that's great about a modern Rolex, and the most versatile model in the current line up

My vote would be a Yachtmaster with the white or blue dial.

Go for the YM. It's a beautiful watch, besides you have a GMTII already.

what about something totally different, a green milgauss? but if it's only those two, then the YM would add little more variety to your collection as you already have a GMT.

Looking at your collection, Anders, ya gotta go YM. No hesitation. You've go the Exp II and GMT II already, so you've got the travel angle covered. The platty would slot in really nicely among your watches and be a special piece
Good luck with you choice!! |

SS/PLATINUM YM is what you need.

I think what you need is a strap watch...
maybe even look beyond the Rolex line... an Aqua Terra on Leather is dressy and sporty, or a navitimer would really shake up your collection.... I personally don't see the YM or the GMTc adding anything to your collection.. unless to unload the expy and the sub... of course, if only given the two choices...I'd have to vote Yachty... In a head to head I'd choose the GMtc everytime, but looking at your collection...the Yachty is the better choice of the two. |

I reckon the YM is the winner.. although the GMT leads the poll the Platty just looks cleaner and will complement my collection far better...
thanks all for your input

hmmm....I'd rather have a Speedmaster than a Daytona... IMO it's overpriced for what it is... I could get both a YM and a GMT for the cost of a Daytona...

Get the Yacht-Master! The most underrated Rolex in the line-up and it looks simply beautiful!

I just went to an AD to try them on (again ). The large font on the GMT really doesn't agree with me, too much in your face..
The YM is a lot slicker and cleaner

Go for the YM! Trust me, if you are already having second thoughts about the GMT IIC, you will end up not happy with it. Go with the one that smiles at you!

I have now tried on the Platty about 5 times and it really Love the platinum, red writing and second hand, it all comes together in a beautiful and subtle harmony.
On the weekend I also tried on a GMT IIC for the first time.. super sweet, like velvet against the skin and you can feel the quality Super super nice... Platty is still 1 closely followed by the GMT...
