Submariner 168000 (triple zeroes)
Hi everyone
I have an opportunity to buy a Submariner 168000, dated 1987. It has full papers (I have seen them) and has white gold surround markers and a crazed, spider web dial. The markers have turned orangey with an uneven patina, although this is not bad esthetically. The trouble is: the hands are slightly pitted and are visible under a loupe. I know the 168000 is rare but how collectible is it? Rolex aficionados don’t seem to value it as much as other vintages. Thank you! |

I just picked one up from Hong Kong last week. I love that it is the modern day sub with 'orange' markers. A nice fusion of vintage and modern.
However I agree that it doesn't seem very collectable because aesthetically it pretty much looks the same as the current sub date. Its seen as just a transtional sub. |
