Well my Speedy is my only nice watch. Im without a Rolex now.
Its a sad day today.
After having some serious financial issues and unforeseen difficulties arise I sold off my Datejust and now my GMT II. I made a very nice profit on the GMT II and I broke even on the Datejust. My Omega Seamaster was sold to fund my Speedmaster before all this other stuff came up. I hope to someday own another Rolex and Im sure I will. It doesn't hurt any less right now. I am fortunate that I have my Omega and Im doing better than a lot of people right now. As bad as things are right now, I have been in much worse spots than this. I have my wife, my son and Im alive. Nothing more I can ask for in my eyes. I miss my Rolex watches, they represented a huge struggle and achievement for me. I have overcome a lot of adversity in my life, and I will rise again. I sold other things first, but at the end of the day the Rolex watches had the most value. I even let my 14K curb link bracelet go, 55 grams worth of gold. I made money on that too, gold was cheap when I bought it. I consider myself fortunate at the end of the day even now. My brother isn't too happy as he was wearing the GMT II. He will live though. Well I love this place and all the great people we have here too. I will still be posting away, just without a Rolex wrist shot for a while. I suppose there are far worse things in the world, than being without a Rolex on ones wrist. You guys have been great and I thought I would share my trials and troubles with you all. Thanks for listening. |

Good luck my man. Rolex = cash. Very nice to know that. Just get back in the saddle and don't let life kick you around. You need to kick life!

At the end of the day, they are just watches and as you noted, you still have what is most important in this life. Watches come and go but it was your taste and appreciation for quality time pieces that made you a collector in the first and that will never go away. You will weather this storm and will posting wrist shots before you know it.

Best of luck DW. Where there's a will...there's a way. You'll have another one before you know it.

What doesn't kill us makes us stronger. I understand the emotional attachment to the watch, but remember it's just a watch. Set backs are often motivation for forward momentum. Keep grinding it out, be willing to make sacrifices and I'm sure you'll get another prized possession that is just as special as the watches you let go.

Thanks guys, you are all great. I dont feel super bad. I can move into a new house now, and get all my bills caught up. There is food on the table for my family, I have net access and money left over. Im glad I had something worth selling when times got rough. Many times in my life I simply didn't.
Here is to better times! |

How fortunate you had some Rolex watches to liquidate! They are great fast cash. Best lesson of all in not being too attached to anything because things come and go. There's more where those came from. Anyway, that speedmaster is a superb watch.

I had to do that about 10 years ago when Lucent (let me go to find my full potential)
in Milpitas....I had just signed on a house and put 30k down 2 months before. I had to sell DJ and Subs....but at IBM times were better....lots better than Avaya Im sure things will look up in the future and you can get another GMT and DJ |

Keep your head up, things will turn in time. I know guys who have been wearing only speedy's for decades, and they will continue until they die. Before you know it you will pick yourself up another Rolex and you will have yourself a fantastic combo.

I say again you guys are all great! If we have another Florida GTG, Im buying everyone drinks on me!
It helps to know that Im not the only one this has happened to. I'll get back on my feet in time. I do have my Speedmaster which is a beautiful piece and a personal grail. Its a 69' which is the year of the moon landing, and Im a huge space and NASA nut myself. Im very glad to have had the Rolex watches to sell. They say things happen for a reason after all. Thanks for the kind and uplifting words guys. I feel a lot better than I did a few hours ago about everything here. |

That's what makes Rolex watches so special....They are something to work towards, to enjoy while you have them, and they can help you weather financial storms when they need arises.
Wishing you all the best during these difficult times. When things turn around, a future Rolex will feel all that more special, but, if you stick with your Omega, the one that saw you through these tough times, I wouldn't blame you, either! Best of luck. |

Best wishes all the way from Singapore and here's hoping it all turns around soon for you.
Having a Speedy to wear is fine - but I hope you'll be back to being a Rolex owner ASAP! |
