Daytona at tourneau Time Warner N.Y.C

I work in the neighborhood and always gawk in the window as I pass by

and today saw a SS daytona. Ofcourse I went inside and asked about the

watch and the salesman told me its used and its $16000. The watch looked

new but $16000 for a used one is steep.

Seen that plenty of times at my local Tourneau. Crazy. There is a sucker born everyday.

This happened to me before.
I was so disgusted with them, I vowed to never go in or buy anything from them.

Others have reported this before as well. Tourneau has had used $16000 Daytonas before and I have had the pleasure of being told the same thing at the exact same store. Absolutely ridiculous.

I'll bet someone that spends $20,000 /month on rent or $500 on a dinner who really wants the SS Daytona will walk in and buy it within two days.

NYC is the place where stores sell $8,000 shoes everyday. I don't like Torneu but they aren't doing anythin wrong, we have debated it on other threads, they can ask what they want, if nobody buys it, they will lower the price. They have no obligation to offer it for any price other than what someone will pay.

I agree tht it's insane to pay that much, but I am sure that most on here would laugh or mock a landlord asking $2,500 plus per month for 700 square feet of living space... I thought it was nuts too, until I thought I was actually getting a great deal and happily paid it.

There's one good saleswoman in the Tourneau on Madison. She was actually really helpful. I can't say the same for the other salespeople there.

I just left the Tourneau in Westchester mall in White Plains. There is a stainless 2006 Daytona white dial in the window. No papers. $15200

David was selling one BRAND NEW for a sneeze over $10,000. Why would I pay $6,000 more for a USED one?

If it were Zenith, then that is a different story.

Agreed, but a multi-millionaire shopping in New York City and sees the watch he wants (even if it's only because other people want it) is less likely to find David on here then to plop down the extra $6,000 to walk out with the watch he wants.
Like I said, I am not a fan of Torneu at all...but they know what they are doing when it comes to pricing their watches. That place is always packed and people leave there with bags that look like they came from the supermarket!!!

For that price you might as well go all out and get the white gold Daytona.

These clowns at Turd-neau need to wake up to reality. That disgustingly inflated

price reveals in all its loathesome glory a completely base attitude of cynical derision toward the 'customer'. They probably call shoppers 'rubes' behind their backs.

Could it have been a WG used Daytona? 16k sounds just about right for a used one.

16K ..... ouch!!!!! They should get down to reality. I just got back from a business trip to Las Vegas... I was killing some time and walked into a pawn shop (in Vegas - they're on every corner) they had a white faced Daytona...no box, no papers, all the removable links had been removed and were unavailable....it was a couple of years old with some nicks and bumps.... The counter guy says to me... It is a VERY RARE Watch, they only make a very few of them each year.. "It has a non negotiable price of $15,900". I asked him what the serial number was, he told me they would have to open the case to find out and they didn't want to ruin the waterproof gasket.. I knew I was in the wrong place.... I departed.

Well when I was looking at the Explorer II I went in to determine if I wanted a white dial or black dial. They only had a used black dial Z series and they were selling it $5200 plus tax of course! The real kicker is if I paid $500 more they would give me a two year warranty on it.

So I went ahead and bought one from DavidSW for a heck of a lot less than that.

Tourneau is one of the worst stores I have ever been in. I tried to deal with them and they refuse to even give you common courtesy. I don't even bother going in anymore. If I want to browse I head to Wempe.

IMHO watches are like beer. If you're thirsty enough, you'll pay anything, short of outrageous to get one. A 6-pack of Bud costs $5.99, $6.99, or more on holidays. A 12-pack of PBR costs $6. I bet the real cost of a 6-pack of Bud is about a dollar, but $5 of advertising goes into every 6-pack...LOL

I never go to Tourneau, but as others have said, there is an ass for every seat, and any product is worth what somebody is willing to pay for it. IMHO, 47th St is the only place to buy a watch in NYC. My favorite trader there has a used WG Daytona for which he is asking 16k, but could probably be talked down.
