EXP II - Can They Really Improve On This One?

Best bang for the buck in my opinion. Pre owned models F, Z with SEL, no holes case are around $3K. Amazing value for a GMT, date function. Can be worn as dress or sport, so comfortable you forget you are wearing it.

Only downside is no one, I mean no one, notices it, it's the ultimate stealth watch, bling free. I am fine with that, especially at at 2 AM in a parking garage.

I agree, a great looking sport Rolex watch for less money,
I bet if it had a bezel with a black insert would have been more popular.

I'm not sure about that one....The solid steel bezel is a selling point to me. No worries about dirt, sand, impacts, while still serving a legitimate function: 2nd timezone. It's more in keeping with the "exploring" theme.

I think it is cool that the only people who do notice it are other WIS...the right kind of people we want noticing our watches right?
[Though..if a female of Anne Hathway's quality were to notice it, that wouldn't be too bad too]
Heh..heh.I am really not this crazy in real life

It's my daily driver too. I'm on my 2nd one. It's up for everyday wear & tear. Once in a while I'll clean it up, touch up the finish but that's about it. When this one shoots craps or get's damaged, I'll just get another one. I've got better watches for dress, but the EXP II is my favorite, and it's the one I really use for everyday.

I do not have one, but it is the next watch on my list to buy. I love the white face. My wife says we have to remodel the kitchen first. Bummer

Aesthetically and functionally perfect, white or black dial.

When I bought my GMT Master II, I didn't know the Explorer II existed, otherwise I would have chosen the Explorer II.

Does the current Explorer II have the all the movement updates of the GMT Master II?

As far as I know it has all the movement updates(that's the parachrom spring I guess?).
Some of my pics:

I couldn't agree more with the topic starter, the Explorer II just can't be beat and suits every occasion and also looks pretty damn good on a NATO(witch can't be said for most GMT Masters).

Can the EXP-II be improved? My only "improvement" to the latest version would be to re-instate the lug holes, but seeing as how mine has them I can only pity those who don't.

Mine has lug holes too. And a tritium dial, and non flip lock bracelet.

For sure the best Rolex on the market for those of us that aren't into the Bling. I love the fact that it does fly under the radar.

The only stealth Rolex! This was a factor in choosing my Exp II. I love it to bits. It's worn every day, in the office, out on the road, everywhere and no one really notices (I think). Had it since September last year and only had 2 people comment and that's just fine!

In passing: the watch hasn't stopped yet (not been off my wrist long enough), loses about 15 seconds a week (well pleased), picked up a good few scratches to the bracelet and a couple on the bezel (it's a watch for wearing not hiding away) but can't get the bracelet off (scared of breaking something!). So all is well in Exp II land :-)

While I do love the current version, I really want to see what was supposed to be released at Basel this year but saved for next year. The bringing back of the orange hand and having EXP II written in orange on the dial looks really slick to me.

Share a pic if you can .

Lots of great pics guys! I like the Expy II all the
more because it looks a bit different from the rest
of the Rolex line-up. That its maybe less popular,
and not recognised much is a bonus/plus.

The best watch I've ever owned. Would tell everyone they have to try it to really appreciate it's beauty, elegance, durability and over all comfort. Not the most popular but that's what I like about it.
