Best Watch Worst Watches

With out a doubt the best watch I ever owned excluding the Rolex was a Seiko Quartz dive watch I bought in the mid 80's. The only identification I numbers on it are 5748-7009 and 481968. It died on me about 3 years ago.
In its life I think the only service done on it was battery replacement and I think I may have only put 4 batteries just a good piece or equipment.

When the watch was pronounced dead I was told that the watch had Seiko"green movement" witch is supposed the best movement Seiko ever made. The watch maker told me he had a "green movement" in his Seiko and once they die there is nothing that can be done and he will be in the same predicament I am in when his Seiko dies.

Has anyone had a new Seiko put in a old Seiko case and what was the outcome was it worth the expense and would you do it again?

The absolute worst watch I ever owned was a Seiko Quartz 3 dial dive watch that a friend bought on-line for me about 3 years ago . The only number I can find on it is 630337. I wore it about 2 weeks and then I had to throw it in a drawer . On my wrist it would only keep time for about 4 hours and in that amount of time it could gain or loose 3 to 5 days . A coworker wore it for a day and a half before he told me to take this junk . For him the was OK for about a day and a half then it went all haywire just plain old JUNK.

The second worst watch is a Seiko 3 dial dive watch I bought about 10 years ago with the following numbers 7T32-7019 668679 Japan movement. It keeps good time but the other dials only worked for about 2 years. I just got tired of trying to get the watch repaired. I even sent it back to Seiko Service and the other dials worked for about 2 weeks then they just stop and I said the heck with it.

These are my experiences with Seiko watches that is why I am reluctant about putting money in the old Seiko.

I am just looking for second and 3 opinions.

Thanks
Teddy

Seiko had nice quartz movements in the 80's, like they really had something to prove. I still have an 80's 7a28 chronograph that keeps exceptional time. All chrono features work.

They moved to the 7t chrono movements in the 90's and they are pretty much disposable with a lot of plastic parts.

no bad experiences so far with seikos... i had though with an AT TT Series 2000 Tag... what a lemon! cost me more to have it repaired than the actual cost of the watch ... but that's another story for a different thread...
