NATO waterproof?

I just put a NATO on my LV yesterday, and was wondering if this strap is waterproof or not?

I wouldn't get the leather ones wet. I have one on my Marathon Navigator and got it wet in the shower. When I tried to get it off, it was almost impossible to untuck the end from the keepers in order to get the strap off. The strap either swelled or just in the wet state stuck to itself where tucked under the keepers.

Nylon is fine.

This is the one I have, I'm guessing it's nylon. I absolutely love it, so secure and light and comfortable!

nylon NATO strap is not waterproof, but it drys quite quickly. they can replaced quite cheaply also.

its tightly woven nylon so it acts like cloth, it soaks up water but it dries in an hour or so

I've never experienced swelling of a nylon strap when wet. In fact, for me a nato wears exactly the same whether wet or dry.
Never tried the woven style natos though.

The nylon ones are of course water proof, that is the very reason they were created. Love NATO - adds comfort and extra security.

a nylon strap is going to be no different than your nylon bathing suite.

I have a nylon NATO on my dive computer. Been on there for about 4 years and has lots of water time on it. No problems at all!

I have a CWC divers watch with a nylon NATO strap - the CWC divers watch is issued to military divers with said strap. So no problems diving with it at all. However, waterproof it is not but, as mentioned above, they dry out quick with no adverse effects.

The NATO and ZULU straps can get wet, they'll dry quickly. The problem is that they will trap bacteria quickly and begin to smell on the wrist. Even a good day of mildly sweaty wrists will begin to make it stink. I don't care for them, AT ALL! I have friends that say the same thing.

I've had no such issues, and I take the Natos diving, hiking, and all....

It was just an a** causing trouble and the mods squashed him after he was reported.

Impressed with the speed at which they did it too. GOOD JOB MODS!!!
