Shy wearing my rolex..
I have a beautiful midsize meteorite rolex and I don't like to wear it in front of people (like co-workers) When I do wear my rolex to work, I always wear long sleeves to cover it up & also....to protect it from being scratch. I don't want my co-worker to know that I own a rolex.....how should I respond if my co-workers ask me about my rolex? People at my workplace don't wear nice things. I feel awkward if they see my rolex & I don't want people to talk behind my back....do you guys have any suggestion as to what I should say when they ask about my rolex? Should I just say "it's fake"? But I think my watch doesn't look fake though. What if they ask me to let them see it close up? How should I answer them without being rude?

I think you are being way too over-concerned about other people's opinions.
There are many Rolex owners that are not rich or 'posers', but want to invest in a quality watch - even if it represents a good hunk of their paycheck. I seriously doubt that your co-workers would think any less of you - you might also find other Rolex owners come out of the closet. Although I wonder from your comments if you work in a rather strange or repressive work environment? |

I don't mean to be rude....But are you seriously not going to wear it for fear of other people thoughts???
Tell them whatever you like if commented on but don't not wear or hide it!! You earned it,payed for it,so enjoy it!!

I don't advertise mine either.... but if asked I let them know it's real and would be happy to take it off and let them feel the weight and explain what to look for in a "Real" rolex..... and if they want to talk behind my back that's their problem... I'd rather them know I have the real deal than them thinking I'm trying to fool someone with a fake

you're kidding right?
you are putting way too much thought into it. i wear rolexes, always big men's size and often solid gold, and even wear the new ceramic 116613 tutone with blue dial and bezel...a HUGE watch to fit on a girl's wrist, and no one even takes a second glance when i'm out and about. it's a rare occurance for the average person (not a fellow watch freak) to notice or pay attention to or make comments on a watch that someone is wearing. it's all in your mind, and i'm willing to bet that not a single co-worker will pay attention or give a rat's a$$ to whatever is on your wrist.
wear whatever ya like and forget it! janice |

Be bold and wear it proudly. To take attention away from your Rolex purchase a Mercedes-Benz, drive up to the front door of your office complex at rush hour and when asked about your new car, tell them all you had to buy something nice to drive your watch to work in! Peace-Out.

People choose to spend their $$$$ differently. I buy my cars, houses, and watches pre-owned and pay a fraction of what they cost new. Thus, I'm able to wear and drive much nicer things than friends who insist on buying new.

Enjoy your watch. Wear it with pride. That was the reason you bought the watch to begin with. Rest assured, majority of people don't bother to look. Otherwise, you may want to consider selling it and buying a Timex.

I used to be self-conscious about my Rolex too. But in the years that I have owned them, I can tell you I have never had anyone notice them.

Lie to them, tell them it was the only thing saved (Rolex) in a terrible accident/tragedy that has been passed on to you, then watch the look on their face! jk

My thinking is that you may feel this way about more than watches... purses, shoes etc.
Be comfortable with who you are and what makes you (not them) happy: if you do that, then it won't matter if others don't care for your tastes.

Why own a real Rolex and say it's fake?! If you are that insecure about what people think about the material items you own, then maybe you should just buy the cheapest one of everything you own. Just ask them if you can go to their house and comment on every item they own. I am sure they have a black and white TV, Wal-Mart Jeans and Shoes?, Generic Bread & Milk?, a Ten Year Old entry level Kia for their everyday driver? I am sure their house is no bigger than what is absolutely needed for their family? Seriously, we all joke with each other at work about cars and watches but it's no business of a total stranger or co-worker how you or I spend our money. Lastly - I have found in 10 years of Rolex ownership, less people then we think care about what's on our wrist! I have had mayb 2 people that I don't know comment on my watches...and only a couple of friends. Most people wouldn't know a Rolex from a Timex and then are shocked when you tell them how much one goes for -The are always "Curious because I was thinking of getting one for my husband". lol -Pete

Saying that it is a fake is a terrible idea. It makes you look totally pathetic. Wear it and if anybody notices just thank them for the compliment and move on.

All I can do is echo my good friends comments on this thread, you're worrying too much. You earned that watch, you like it, wear it, enjoy it and be proud. You are not (as far as I can tell from your post) flaunting it to people that can't afford one, you are simply enjoying something that makes you happy. We all have things we spend extra money on that we enjoy, for some it's cars, others jewlrey, others fine shoes and clothes, for us, it's a Rolex!

MR. T is in the house!
I had a business owner comment on mine and I told him that it's a matter of priorities. At an average of $150 per job, I told him I really had to save and plan out my purchases. Wear it. Be happy. If asked, tell 'em that you saved a dollar a day for it and now it's yours...FINALLY! Chances are, no one will notice it.

You should be wearing your Rolex for YOU. For whatever reason, you have it, wear it where and when you want. No need to be shy about it. If a co-worker sees and asks you about it, let them see it close up, but do not take it off and let them feel it.
You know what you're wearing and that's all that matters. |

if you're really that concerned with what your co-workers will think or say, just tell them that it was a gift. after all, it's not untrue...think of it as a gift that you bought for yourself.
i would never lie and say it was a fake. |
