Daytona C / Explorer II C.. What do you think?
Rolex has introduced over the past several years new models having Ceramic Bezels (Subs,GMTs,DSSD,YMII).. Some people like it others used not to like it and some still don't like it.. Anyway it's all a matter of personal taste.. But for me, I do like Cermic Bezels.
In this post I'd like to focus on complaints of some Daytona and ExpII owners rubbing the black printed Tachy scale and 24 Hrs. while polishing their Bezels.. (There are lots of posts about this topic..).. From this point I think we have to start thinking that Ceramic Bezels will for sure solve this problem.. So do you think Rolex will have this move ? What's your personal opinion about it for each of the obove mentioned models ? ..To start,, I guess and I am waiting that Rolex will come up with a Daytona C and ExpII C soon.. That's why I didn't add either of these models to my proudly owned collection until now..

If recent history is a guide the next generation of EXP II will maintain the steel bezel.

I don't know too much about it, but is it possible for a "C" Bezel on a Daytona? The GMT and Submariner bezels are not actually attached to the watch case, since they are rotatable. I don't see how Rolex could attach a ceramic bezel to a SS case. But... as much as it pains me to admit this... I don't know everything....

We all know what the new Expy looks like based on those leaked images / photos from basel this year!
A daytona would be interesting but I'm not sure if I see it happening or not - I'm sure we'll get there someday with one of them!

If they were to go ceramic with the EXP II I would not buy one. I would be more worried about cracking the bezel than enjoying wearing the watch.

My vote is to keep the Daytona "as is".

I don't see how they can include ceramic in daytona or explorer 2... mainly because the bezel is the same SS material for the current models. And it's not a moving bezel... so if it's purely for cosmetics upgrade, i don't think they will create it with ceramic.

Ceramic indices on a steel bezel to ensure they don't rub off or anything with age perhaps. Add a 2mm size increase and they'd have a winner.

The black numbers on the current Exp2 bezel do not normally have a problem with rubbing off - unless you get one of the "special" Chinese versions. If the steel bezel gets damaged it can still be replaced relatively cheaply (unlike the ceramic ones).
No fix is required and I am one who hopes that Rolex do not ruin this model as they have some others by making size increases or a load of pointless and tacky "improvements" to justify the outrageous prices. There are a variety of tastes amongst buyers so they should leave something for those that prefer function over form. |

Well the ceramic part is the insert, so I can't see how/why Rolex would change from metal to ceramic for a fixed bezel.
Cheers
