Sub- no date V series...
Hi guys,*
I have just seen a brand new Sub-no date V series at the AD. I am aware it is a discontinued model. What would be the movement number in it and does it have the new parachrome blue hairspring? Many thanks! |

no, the Sub ND is still available - probably not for too long though. a few ADs in London has been getting them in the past few months.
i love it, especially the lug holes - classic, it does not have the new parachrome blue hairspring. |

Who or what told you its discontinued it was on display at Basel 2010 and in general Rolex don't display models at Basel if they are finished. The latest non-date subs will have the cal 3130,basically a 3135 without the date complication. But doubt if it will have the in-house parachrom hairspring but no big deal either way.

I remember a thread when a member was told by a AD that V was the end of the 16610.

Thank you guys for pointing it out to me that the no date sub will still be in production. That is good to know. Indeed it has the classic look with clean dial. I was under the impression that it will be discontinued in favour of the new ceramic bezeled subs. Looks like it is here to stay.
Now perhaps someone can explain the difference between movements 3130 vs 3185. I gather the difference between 3130 and 3135 is the absence of a date function in 3130. How is 3135 different from 3185? I am interested to know this. I also thought that since it was a V series, it would be equipped with a parachrome blue hairspring. Thanks for your replies!! |

Aside from the 4th hand, the 3185/6 movements allow the date to move backwards, while the 3135 only moves forwards.

Congrats............ Now that you have an "Original" Sub, here's the stuff that you need to know..
It is a Sub.......... period, end of story...... it is not a Sub ND, or a Sub Non-date, or no date.......... It's a Sub..... ......... The other one is a Sub Date... you know... the one with the date It uses the 3130 movement - which is a base movement. The others have stuff added, so it is not a "3135 without the date".... the 3135 is a 3130 with a date added...and so on..... It is supposed to have lug holes.... that's the way real watches are made... Anyway........... enjoy this classic....... It's the last of a rare breed...

Hmmm... I have checked out the sales forum here and I can see there are really good deals available for pre-loved Subs. I will hold on my next purchase for now as I just got my EXii. I will enjoy it first. I will likely get my next timepiece from sellers in this forum in the future. I do hope they won't have reservations to sell it to me in Malaysia. I have purchased watches from TZ but none from here yet. I realized most sellers in TZ prefers US only deals especially for Rolex watches. Cheers!!

Larry, you need to guard against being too conservative, every so often you're gonna have to let go and say what you really feel.

I have checked the official Rolex website but I fail to find the Sub ( with no date). If it is in production, then why is it not in the website? I checked with an AD here and they tell me it is discontinued and is replaced by the Sub-C date. I note from this website that it is still in production. I am curious as what would the actual fact. Any ADs here wish to give an input? Regards! |
