Left Rolex for Breitling, and couldn't be happier

Hey guys, just a follow up from an earlier thread I posted. I received my superocean steelfish this week. I'm a permanent Breitling convert. I was first of all taken care of more than fairly by Bernard Watch Co. I received a new in box w/ papers blue dial superocean steelfish the day after they received my subdate. I needed to get the bracelet sized so stopped by the AD and he confirmed the watch was produced on 03/10 and was within cosc specs. I also received $895.00 with it for the difference in values from Bernard Watch. I love my new watch. I do miss the subdate, but I am content that I made the right decision. For anyone on the fence about breitling I say go for it. Unfortunately my iPhone doesn't give me the option to post pics. Thanks to those of you who encouraged me to take the leap.

I just purchased a Super Avenger chrono. They are nice watches. I always have room for both.

The B is nice but $895 seems like too small of a small difference to give up the Rolex.

Bernard has nice stuff but I thinkthey lowball the trade-ins. They offered me $750 for a mint Seamaster 2255.80.

Just don't ever spoil the initial impression by removing the case back and looking at the poorly finished movement.

I did this with my Steelfish and never felt the same about Breitling since. I still own 2 B's but they do seem to put more effort into cases and bracelets over finishing of the movement.

My Breitling keeps MUCH better time than the 3 Rolexes I have owned. The movement may not be pretty, but it keeps great time

I kind of slot my B'lings for more everyday wear, and my Rolex's for dress/special events.

I like the Breitlings as they are great watches that are stealth to the public. Most watch guys notice but your average Joe doesn't and to me that is nice point.

Enjoy and lets see some pictures.

Cheers

I have two Subs and an Emergency...no reason to only have one.

I love my Super Ocean Steelfish! I would not, and will not get rid of this watch. I plan to make an addition or two to the rotation, but I will not get rid of this one!

I have a black Navitimer World that's just collecting dust next to my Rolexes and PAMs.

For the longest time I said, the only Breitling worth getting is a Navitimer. I ended up getting a Cockpit for my 30th, and then about a month later a Superocean Heritage 46. I gotta say I'm a huge fan of them both because they're discreet (even the 46mm Heritage..very subdued). Some other Breitlings look like hubcaps on your wrist though.

Generally an Omega man, I just picked up a Sub date and a Superocean (both pre-owned) not long ago and both on the same day.

The Sub I have wanted for a long time, so I took the plunge. The Superocean just fell into my lap (so to speak) and for a lot cheaper. The Superocean, despite being an older one (dating to 2001 or so), holds my attention more. Who knew?

I got my Colt Automatic over 5 years ago and it was my daily wear for almost that long. It's been beaten up and still works flawlessly. I actually just had it refinished so it looks fantastic now. After my PAM 359 comes in, my next watch will most likely be a Chronomat 01....in house movement and great style!

I had decided to buy either a Steelfish or a Planet Ocean. Tried both on and, although the Omega was very nice, the Breitling felt and looked better (IMHO).

So I am the proud owner of new black dial Steelfish

Personally, I had problems with 2 Brand new Breitlings, a Crosswind and a Montbrillant Datora - Now have the Rolex Daytona and am delighted!

I know how you feel. I wanted to be a big fish in a small pond rather than a small fish in a big pond. I opt for the SuperOcean Heritage Chrono on a SS OceanRacer deployment clasp and rubber strap instead of the Sub. I look at it everytime not to tell time, but to admire the handsome, sporty look. But I still plan to own a SubC when funds are available.

I would never get rid of Rolex per se, but Breitling is where my love for watches started. I started at the age of 13 with a Colt Chronograph (quartz) and moved my way up to the Daytona I have now.

I always loved Breitlings, but had to have a Rolex. I love the aerospace line (Emergency especially) and the Windriders (Chronomat Evolution) and hope to acquire another Breitling down the road.
