Got my LV, but...

So my fiance showed me the watch that she got me as a wedding gift, and I love it. It's a V series LV!!! She got brand new for a decent price at a NYC AD. I had to agree not to wear it until the wedding in November, though...SUCKS!

OK so on to why I'm posting. After drooling over it and analyzing every millimeter, we noticed that there were 4 or 5 scratches on the caseback. They're probably 1-3cm long-not too bad, but you could feel them with your fingernail. This is a brand new watch, so why are there scratches?

How do you guys think that this should be handled? We're thinking about bringing it over to the AD and exchanging it. I was sneaking around in there yesterday and saw another LV on display. What do you guys think?

It's probably been handled too much...I would exchange it, especially since you mention there's another one in stock.

Congrats on the LV!

If the AD is a standup one and if you explain that this is a wedding present and very special, the Ad should do you right and exchange it...
good luck

Absolutely. Go back and show them the watch, and ask for an exchange.
Good luck, hope it works out for you!

I would exchange it. Something is strange though, a brand new LV would have a clear sticker protecting the round caseback; was the sticker not intact?

Why getting a brand new watch in a bad condition instead of getting it shiny?

These are my thoughts exactly !!!!

A brand new watch should have his stickers intact.
The only explanation is if the AD took them off in order to put it in the display.

One way or another return it and politely demand what a brand new watch should be .......

Try to exchange it, especially if they have another in stock. Can't hurt to try.

Thanks for the input everyone. There was a mutual agreement between the two parties and we were very happy with it.

I cannot wait until I get to wear this beauty.

If the AD's name starts with a "T" you might have a problem.

I would exchange it if possible. As a wedding gift I'd want "pure as the driven snow".......then go find a justice-of-the-peace, ship's captain, or something--November??

Well I'm definitely in the minority but I can't see a few fine fine scratches on the case back are going to make any difference. But it obviously bothers you so exchange it.

I would want to be the one "baptizing" it with scratches if I got it new.

No worries guys!!! It's all taken care of!! Thanks again for your input! Just can't wait till I get to wear this watch instead of staring at it.

What would you guys suggest I do with it till November? Just let it sleep in the case?

If these watches sit in the case on display. Many of them do as we all know they get handled and tried on many times. The AD takes off all the protective stuff and away people go with trying everything on. Point is if it bugs you then return it. Mine was ordered in as they had none in stock and it came to me untouched. They may also have one out back untouched as well. Not everything they have is in the case.

Definitely return it. That is unacceptable for a new watch.
