WernerTurner,

I purchased my Datejust from Cayce Fuqua, the owner of preownedrolex.com, and am purchasing the Seadweller which is currently listed as pending on his site. I researched his reputation prior to my first purchase and could find no wrong. I have found he is a class act, and straight shooter. Buy with confidence!!!!

I bought my DateJust through Cayce. Fast delivery and a great guy. I can highly recommend that site.

Thumbs up!

Know that anything you purchase from Cayce and Patton will actually look BETTER in person than as described and depicted on their web site. These guys are A+ and I would look to them first if I were in the market for a preowned Rolex.

I recommend buying brand new from an AD. Why, most preowned Rolex's are not serviced by an official Rolex serice center. Secondly, no assuance that all of the internal movement parts are genuine Rolex. If you plan on keeping and maintaing it, this may become an expensive venture. Take it from me, I had actual experiences.

But.....If you do your homework and get all of these guarantees of authenticity up front, then things go very well indeed. I have purchased five Rolex watches via the Grey market, and all are just as you would want them to be.

We are both correct on this point. Do your homework and BE CAREFUL should be the watchword.

They look like they have some great buys, and if another 5513 shows up, I might be tempted.

I have one question. What does this mean:

Quote:
The Timekeeper watchmaker checks each Rolex for "water resistance" but does not guarantee the watch to be "water proof."
Does it mean ok for normal water stuff, but the depth rating is not acurate anymore?

Sounds like Lawyer-speak to me. I'd have it checked for waterproof at my local watchmaker. Most have the HW47 or equivalent vacuum tester and can verify the integrity of the seals.

It means that if you're going to swim with your rolex you better make sure it's pressure tested before going in the water with it...

I highly recommend getting the watch re-sealed and pressure tested before going into the water. Water got into my DJ pictured in my avatar and I rushed it to my watch guy. He told me the caseback was NOT tightened. Sometimes people check the movement and take pics of it in order to sell on the web.

When I spoke to Cayce (at that time I was looking for an SD), his watchmaker was originally from Rolex, and still has his Rolex parts account. I would take this that there are no after market parts on the Rolex that he sells.

Cayce is very upfront in my dealings with him although I haven't bought anything from him.

So, does "un-worn" mean it's from an AD who wants to move it?
He does have some nice watches and fair prices.

If Cayce says a watch is 'unworn', then I'd certainly believe him.

The source could be an AD who wanted to get rid of a slow mover, or a person who received one as a gift, or someone who traveled outside the US and brought it back and doesn't need it, or it could be someone bought it one day and then lost their job the next day, and so on and so on.

It likely means the watch still has the plastic protective thingies. It doesn't mean that no non-Rolex human has ever touched it or sampled it on their wrist.

Of course, the buyer would have to accept the fact it has no Rolex USA warranty, but there are very few stories of Rolex buyers needing to use that warranty anyway.

A warranty can be nice to have tho, check this out:

KCMO (Karis) has a good story on warranty of her DJ. She bought a DJ only a few months old from a WIS in Greece. The watch arrived, its gorgeous.. loves it but then realises its running fast like 40secs per day. So rather than drop it to the RSC she gets her local watchmaker to take a look (he can get the watch back to her in days not weeks). He returns it but still it runs fast AND theres a little mark on the dial (presumably not there before the regulation) so Karis bites the bullet and takes it to the RSC.

The RSC regulate the watch, REPLACE the dial and give it a quick polish all for no charge! She was also honest and disclosed the fact another watchmaker her looked at her watch first.

NOW thats good service. I hope Karis doesn't mind me telling this story, she was totally stoked and I was really happy to hear of such good customer service.
