Icon20 Playing a little with my new GMT Moka...

Just a little playing, just for the pleasure of it.

May be you have read my previous post, a couple of weeks ago, when I showed my then just found GMT chocolate dial (a.k.a. "root beer" or "moka").
To say that I´m delighted with this watch, is an understatement: I just love it!!

As I told in that post, the watch came with a genuine Rolex leather band, of very dark chocolate color, with the typical coronet buckle, instead of the (I´m sure it got originally) steel/gold bracelet.

While I expect to get a TT Jubilee bracelet in a future time, I decided to play a little with my pretty GMT, that is, to try other options.

First, I wished to see the looks, taking the bracelet of my DJ (inherited from my Dad), which is a Jubilee all stainless (in spite of the fact the watch is a TT, this watch was bought at a local AD with this feature).

Though the endlinks are not the correct ones, it gave me a hint of what the watch looks with this bracelet. I´m not very fond of Jubilees, as I like best the looks of the Oyster one. Anyway, I have to recognize that it is more comfortable to wear (may be it is more flexible), light, and, I can´t explain why, but I like it best the Jubilee in this GMT, so I´ll buy a TT Jubilee for it, when the time comes.

After a little wearing the GMT with the Jubilee, I restored it back to its own watch, and changed for another leather band, this one a very thick one I had ordered a year ago for my Sub from Jurgens of Germany.
This is a very thick, custom made band, using leather from WW2 holsters, and other premium leathers. As you may see, craftmanship is outstanding, and price not so high for a custom made product like this.

I like it better than the Rolex one which came with my GMT, so I left it in this watch, and is the one I presently use in the Moka GMT. I like the looks of this band, and its comfortable thick leather.

I feel it is nice to play with this type of trials in our watches, just for a little fun, and nothing to hurt the watch itself, or its looks: if you don´t like the results, you can always go back to the original configuration. No harm made!

Hope you enjoy these photos, and may be inspires you to play a bit with your watches.
Thanks for your kind attention!!.
Have a nice week end, and ... to play with your Rolex friends!!
Very cordially, Abel

Gorgeous, Abel. I like the first leather band the best!

I think I'll have to offend JJ and look at some bands for my Pepsi...

Abel - that TT Datejust on a SS jubilee looks SO MUCH BETTER than the regular TT Datejust TT jubilee combo! A lot more stylish.

Abel, great looking watch!
FYI Chocolate and Root beer aren't the same (different dial color)

Hello Ben! thank you for your kind comment.
Yes, I have seen that these names are referred to different shades of brown dials of GMT´s . May be you or other friends here at TRF can send their pictures of their respective watches to make cleared the difference.
Mine got a definitive rich brown or chocolate (moka) coloration, and the bezel is brown and gold.

I have seen a more modern version of the brown GMT, with a more brillant "sundburst" brown dial. May be this is the true "root beer".
Anyway, I´m aware that like "pepsi" and "coke" nicknames, these have been coined by collectors and WIS and never been officially adopted of course.

Thank you again for your message, and send you my most cordial regards,
Abel.
