DJ 116200 pics
Hi,
I'm. Considering getting one of these. I'm a 40mmsub sort off guy so worried the 36mm size might seem too small. I know it's only 4mm but does it make much difference? I've got tiny wrists anyway so hopefully it won't look out of place on me as I'm really keen on it...I'm thinking black baton dial, smooth bezel with oyster bracelet. Anyone share any insight on how the 36mm DJ feels on the wrist or care to share some pics would be much appreciated. Thanks Mike |

Hi Mike,
I love my 116200 on Oyster, hugely comfortable, and flies nicely under the radar. Feels very solid on the wrist, the clasp feels substantial, and, all things considered, isn't that small. Here are a few pics |

I've always felt a Rolex...any Rolex wears bigger than it's specs.
I have smaller wrists......a hair or three under 6.75" & my 36mm datejust & 36mm explorer are fine, not too big, not too small. |

It should be okay unless you have a really huge wrists. Good luck on your decision making.

I have a 36 oyster perpetual, it hasn't seen the light of day since I got my DS. It was my first rolex, so it holds personal value. Lately I've been considering selling it and picking up an LV. I have offered it to my wife, but it's kinda weak compaired to her dark mother of pearl jubilee diamond dial DJ. I don't think she'll ever wear it. My point is after the DS, I don't think I can go below 40.

I was very close to snapping up a 116200 on impulse during a visit to my AD.
It was the black arabic dial with the concentric effect and on the superjubilee bracelet. Coupled with a tremendous discount it was a fair effort to "think about it" and leave it in the window. My wrist size is 7.75" and the watch did not look too small at all. I was wearing my Alaska Project at the time - 42mm and there was no size shock. In fact the DJ wore a little better. This is the dial but in blue. The superjubilee bracelet is a worthwhile search for the '200 also. A good discount is important as the trade value the DJs very harshly if ever you offered it in p/x.

Wrist size is really a non-issue for most people. I've worn GMT's, TOG's and DJ's for 35 years on a 7" wrist. My father had much larger wrists and wore a TOG. Used to be that sports figures like NFL linemen and heavyweight champions wore DD's or DJ's, and no one thought they had too-small watches.
One thing to keep in mind is that the view when you look down at your own wrist is much different from the view of someone else's wrist. You might look at your watch and wrist in a mirror to see if you like the look. Good luck finding the watch you want. |

I think it is another one of those how does it look and feel to you. I ended up getting a DJII just because of the size factor.
This was my third watch however and that may have something to do with it. By that time I already had 2 sports models at 40mm and when I put on the 36mm model it looked small to me.

Thanks for all the photos and replies! I was set on baton dial but after seeing yours GMT Master I'm not so sure now. The thing is up until I saw a colleague wear one the DJ had been totally off my Rolex radar, weird!
As for discount I should be able to pick one up off a grey dealer for £2,750 BNIB which is just over 20% off. Which I think is good value when you compare how much a 16610 is which has a hollow link bracelet and old style clasp. Is £2 750 a good price for BNIB? Thanks again for everyones replies...always knew I could rely on TRF to help me out. |

Since its a dressier watch, you don't want it to look large on your wrist. 36mm is a good size.

My wrists are between 6.25 and 6.5'' and I was worried abnout 36mm being to small. All my other watches are 40 mm-ish.
I was convinced I needed a DJ II for the added size but one day it just clicked that the 36mm looked and felt perfect :) I will add that having a fluted bezel does give the watch the illusion of being a bit bigger - it seems to be a common consensus among TRF'ers so much so that my other watches feel cumbersome after wearing the perfectly sleek and sized DJ
