I got an invitation to that, too.

I'm not sure what I did with it now, but I just might drop by there, too.

Hope they'll let me in. My salesman will probably recognize me.

I look just like my avatar. How about you?

I think I'll be able to get there about six. I probably won't stay long, because if I do, I'll surely put a Rolex on hold.

Right now, I'm trying put some photographic equipment together for my Commemorative Air Force unit duties.

I'll be wearing a Hawaiian shirt and some jeans and sandals.

Actually, make that seven. I just remembered that I have a CAF staff meeting at five tomorrow. It won't last all that long and I'll come right after.

Well, I just came back from my visit to Beauchamp's where the Albuquerque Get Together was held. As I said earlier, I had a Commemorative Air Force Annual Fundraiser meeting to attend at 6:00pm, so I wasn't able to get there exactly at 6:00pm, but I did make it by about 6:45pm.

I didn't see anyone that matched the description of Matt's avatar, so I must have missed him. Either that or maybe he wasn't comfortable approaching a smiling jackass snapping photos all over the place.

I did happen to run into another TRF member who was quite friendly and immediately struck up a conversation about my camera. His user name is apeoger and he's a military man, so we discussed cameras, watches, the military and about everything else. It was a pleasure to have met him.

I did manage to keep from transferring some funds around while I was there and putting one on lay-away, but I was very tempted.

Here are some pictures of the event. I'm not a Jocke or a kyleL, but I documented the event.

Let's take a look:

This is the Beauchamp's sign on Menaul Blvd. I should have taken pictures of the three Farraris sitting right out front, but I was in a hurry to get inside.

As soon as I walked in the door, I was met by this gentleman, who as you can see, was ready to fix me up with some food and beverages. I declined.

This is member, apeogre.

Here's a pretty saleslady helping a gentleman try on some Rolex watches. The man to her right is also a Beauchamp's employee.

This is Mr. Beauchamp, himself, busy taking care of a sale, I'm sure.

This is Jordan, the resident watchmaker, who was patient enough to let me try on quite a few watches. A very personable fellow. This is a blog Jordan recommended. I thought he said it was his, but now I'm not sure. It's very interesting, anyway: http://watchmakingblog.com/

Jordan standing behind one of the showcases filled with Professional models.

And finally, here we have a bejewelled Rolex Daytona and a Submariner Date. Yes, I did try on the one on the Sub, but honestly, it left me cold and only confirmed my belief that I'd never wear anything remotely looking like these watches, although Jordan did say he would if someone gave him one.

I did not try on this one, but it really is a stunningly beautiful watch that would look beautiful on some lucky lady's wrist. I didn't bother to price it or the ones above.

There's our little tour of Beauchamp's and the Albuquerque Get Together. I'm sorry that I missed Matt, but it was very lucky to get to meet apeogre, who was here on a trip from the Far East.

Beauchamp's does this quite often and this is the first one I've visited. I believe now that I will do it much more often.

Not a problem, Matt. Beauchamp's probably has at least four of these events a year, so we can have a ABQ GTG any time.

I'm really glad I attended this one because it got me into the store where I can really appreciate the beauty of the watches.

I've been avoiding it because I've spending pretty heavily on other interests, but the more I looked tonight, the more plausible it seemed.

Remember to take a camera and get some more pix.

If they're still out there, get some shots of those Ferraris.

I'd like to suggest that members in New Mexico and perhaps southern Colorado identify ourselves, so that we can have a little bit more successful GTG next time.

For this one, we only had about a day to prepare, so actually we were pretty lucky to have three members show up, even if we did have problem all being there at the same time.

Of course, we don't have to wait for a Beauchamp gala event, but this last one was pretty enjoyable and there are several good restaurants within blocks of the store, especially in the ABQ Uptown Center, that can be adjourned to after we've met up and fondled our share of watches.

So, if we stay in touch here, we never know when there might be a sufficient spontaneous convergence in the city for us to take an hour or so sit down for lunch and just chew the fat and share our watches with one another.

We can shoot for bigger affairs as time goes by.

What say ye?

New member from Albuquerque checking in.

Wife bought me a Milgauss LV as a birthday/Christmas/10th wedding anniversary present. She says I can have it after Thanksgiving (halfway between birthday and Christmas). Can't wait!

I'd be up for any sort of GTG.

Thanks,

Tony

I'll most likely be available for a GTG most any time. Beauchamp's events make a good organizing point or anytime someone's up for just getting together for some watch talk and beverages, just post it here.

I grew up there (product of APS- Comanche Elem./Cleveland Middle/Sandia High)...only thing I miss is the food. And now that M&J's is gone (at least the Bea & Jake era) I'm less inclined to visit. Funny enough, several of the guys I grew up with moved to CO as soon as possible...as did I (20 years ago).

IMO ABQ is a good place to be from.

Thanks for the pix Grady- looks like a good event.
