My spouse thinks I've gone over the edge.

Each time I've purchased a new-to-me Rolex (four times since October, 2009 plus my first 19 years ago) my spouse has been supportive. My last purchase, a white-dial Daytona, didn't receive any resistance because I had just had back surgery, and I played the sympathy card. However, the other day out on the boat, I showed her a really slick ad in Alert Diver magazine for the DSSD. I wasn't saying I wanted one, just that I thought the ad was very enticing and well done.

Mrs. Chitwood looked at me and asked, "How many of those watches do you need? You're starting to get weird." I guess I'll have to find and undergo some elective surgery in order to even have a chance at Number Six.

Or a new Mrs, Joey?

I understand your "weirdness". Yesterday I told my GF I couldn't wait to put one of my Rolies back on after wearing one of the Omegas for TWO days!!

She just looked at me and shook her head

I'm guessing a new celebration ring from Tiffany's might correct her impression of me being weird.

My wife is standing behind me reading your post and, unfortunately for me, agrees with your wife. And, all I have are two Rolexes.

Are you related to the stunt driver?

Six is definitely too many, but a thousand is not enough.

I've "negotiated" my way out of situations in the past with the Tiffany's catalog. My spouse is a massage therapist at the local community center. She's very popular and is booked far into November right now. Friends and acquaintances always tell me how lucky I am to be able to get a massage anytime I want one, but in truth, I've never had a massage, nor do I ever anticipating wanting one. It's just not me.

Just curious what month/year issue of Alert Diver magazine this slick ad was published in?

Need to pick up this issue and check it out!

Best of luck to you again on another possible acquisition here also!

Just tell her how much you love and treasure her!

This works for me - well, most of the time anyway.

Hee hee.

The ad is on the inside cover of the most recent issue on thick, glossy paper. It features the DSSD and underwater photographer David Doubilet. It looked so good that it could make anyone consider the Deep Sea.

I am in the same boat. The DSSD was going to be my next aquisition until my wife got curious and found out what the Rolex asking price is. I told her either DavidSW or Oscar was going to give me a deal in which she responded so ask them if they have a room on their couches for you. Needless to say I purchased a TOG from Tony G to satisfy my itch, what she doesn't know is that I intend to purchase a 118235 (black mop diamond dial) by the end of the year. I plan on telling her I received an offer I could not refuse ... let's see how this goes...

Lol, my SO asks me why I keep buying rolexes as "they all look the same."

I dont think youre weird my friend, just burdened with good taste. The ring will help, I give my SO diamonds even though I think they all look the same....

BTW I also want a DSSD...

You know you've gone over the edge when you've got 90% of your Speed Dial space reserved for TRF Sellers.

On my last watch (arriving today) I told my wife that I just got caught up in the game I made a ridiculously low-ball offer thinking it would be refused, but then the seller agreed.

I explained that I could not back out of the deal as it was my rock bottom firm and final offer, if I backed out it would ruin my reputation on the board.

I'm not sure if she bought it regardless I am going to lay low for at least a year.

Joey, I don't think you are going over the edge ...... you just have good taste and enjoy your watches. That DSSD is an awesome watch!

Michael that's bad actually that's Michael Jackson Bad (great fib). I used those exact same words with my wife on the TOG. Shifting cash in and out of my accounts like I am playing Monopoly just to acquire a new toy!!!
