What My AD Said.

Today I was at my AD asking about servicing the guy said the only RSC in the US is in Pennsylvania. I said I don't know about that what about Dallas. He said I think it closed. I said and NYC? He said that's not an authorized RSC.

I thanked him and left.

Is Pennsylvania a corporate RSC? Like Dallas & NYC????
I know there are a couple of indie, licensed-by-Rolex RSCs, 1 in Chicago, 1 in San Francisco......not sure if there are any more?????
L.A.had the indie Walter Gooden, then a corp. RSC...but now that's gone.

You should of then asked who would replace the battery, in the watch, when it goes dead. I wonder what your AD's response would be. LOL

Rolex has it's certified training center in Lititz, PA. It's a 2 year program for watchmakers. Also overflow from the NYC RSC is sent there for service. A local AD that I use has permission from Rolex to send watches directly to Lititz for service. They come back in 3 weeks and with the same level of service as an RSC and the same 2 year service warranty. Same price too!

Haven't heard anything about RSC in NYC or Dallas closing. Sounds like typical AD BS

Rolex is moving part of its NYC operations out of manhattan. I believe it's mainly their operations, shipping and handling though. As far as I know service center stays in manhattan.

It just kills me I really don't want to call the RSC and deal with the whole thing I would rather pay a little extra and have the AD do it (yes, I really am that lazy), but nooooooooooooooo I can't trust them they might accentually send it to Wal-Mart for servicing.

I'll have to do it myself.

Call Giovanni at SFO RSC.

If it helps, he's geographically nearest you.

I said this story before. I took a Submariner for service to the Fredericksburg AD in Virginia about 6 years ago. Cost $500. The case and bracelet were not finished. I asked them why, they said it was extra. They used a local watchmaker, they did not even sent it to the RSC.
That was the end of my business there!

OK do I ask for Giovanni? Isn't the the owner? Won't he be too bust to come to the phone?

So what happens do they give he a Service Authorization Number? Will they send me a service kit? For example I needed my PC serviced Compaq sent me everything I needed to send it back including a box.

Can I tell them what I want them to do and what I don't want them to do?

I just bought an S series 14060 with no papers. Since I have no idea if it has ever been serviced I wanted to at least have the oils replenished, but I do not want polishing. The original bracelet is pretty stretched but I don't use it. I'll put it back on before sending but I do not want it replaced.

Will I get an official Rolex certificate from them after service? Since I have no original papers on the watch I wanted to use the service papers to help establish authenticity if I ever decide to sell it.

Giovanni has never been too busy to talk to a customer. I always ask for him over the phone.

I've never had to mail him anything, but in your case, he will send you a kit with instructions on where to mail it to, and what service to use.

After inspecting your watch, he will contact you regarding what NEEDS to be done, and what else he SUGGEST you do. This is where you decline the case polishing etc.

You then wait 3-5 weeks (the current turnaround time), and you get your baby back like new. And yes, it will come with the 2 year service warranty and the suede pouch.

Hope this helps, Mike.

Did you talk to the watch salesperson or the security guard?
I find the story almost unbelievable.

I mean, I defend the AD's all the time that don't have a full staff of WIS that know the history of Rolex and the other ten brands they carry... but, I can't even imagine that they wouldn't know where the RSC's are?!?!?!?!

If this is true, it is indefensible!

It can take up to 6-8 weeks for service here in America from an RSC. I sent my Pepsi in for service and it took 6 weeks. But I've heard in other countries it can take up to 4 months to come back from servicing. So I'm glad to hear that we have students learning how to work on a Rolex watches here in America so maybe the turn around time will decrease as students enter the work force.....
