I know nothing about Rolex... any guesses on how much this watch might be worth. It appears to be stainless. The strap is one piece (no clasp), also stainless. As you can see it's well worn. It started as soon as I wound it :)

For now I plan on wearing it as is. Maybe down the road I'll have some money to put in it. How much does it cost for the average service ?

It was dirty when I found it. I cleaned it with some tooth picks and q-tips with warm water.

I thought it was from 1952 but now I'm not sure after looking on another list ....... the numbers on the side are 814941 and 6082 on the other side. There are no markings on the underside.

Here is mine, S/N: 811718, keeps perfect time. Paid about $700 for her, Rolex won't work on them (too old) but any Indi Watchmaker worth his salt can. Ditch that bracelet, it's just wrong and put her onna nice leather strap or source a period correct Oyster bracelet from Steve Mulholland. Mine is wearing a Rolex Jubilee with a Rolex clasp (w/ gold coronet), a Frankie for sure but all Rolex so it's all good! Nice find!

I took it to the local jewler and he said the same thing about the band. He also said I should have the winder head? fixed...it won't crank down. He said moisture will get in.

Sounds like you need to get her serviced, it'll be worth it. By the way does it have the Super Oyster Crown (look for a cross and text on the top of winding crown)?

No, it wouldn't be a Super Oyster crown, since those did not screw down.

Can anyone recommend a good Rolex service center ?

And as far as bracelets go....I would assume the stainless for $58 here is bogus ????
http://www.yukiwatch.com/catalog/ite...64/8017259.htm

All the other ones I looked at were $500 +

Can someone recommend a bracelet ???

Rolex service centers won't touch this vintage of a watch anymore. Go with a good independent watchmaker (or one with a Rolex parts account) who could source a new crown & case tube. Also, if you want to have a bracelet, find an older riveted Rolex Oyster bracelet (I believe this has 19 mm lug spacing? So you would need a 7205 bracelet); or just put it on a nice brown leather strap for now. It would look nice on a strap.

...THAT outfit has been the brunt of several WATCHOUT listings previously.

...lots of counterfeit things!

I'm sending the watch to Steve Mulholland for a complete overhaul and a fitting bracelet. I will try to take some good pictures when I get it back :):):):):):):)

I agree that a nice croc leather strap will do for now because a Rolex strap will cost you lot and you have to take watch to an AD in order to get the Rolex strap. Be prepared to spend a bunch to rejuvinate that vintage. My bubbleback set me back a grand and it was in much better shape than yours. Get it done and enjoy it!

Steve did a great job -- that is a great looking vintage watch. The dial patina is beautiful.
