Looking for a good watch :) (NEW)
I am a new member on these forums, maybe a lot younger than most people on here, but I am a watch fanatic just like most everyone on here. I am too young (17) to buy anything too expensive so I was wondering what kind of watches are out there that have diamonds on them that are around the $700 price range... I have a citizen eco drive right now with the tiny bezel diamonds around it but that doesn't impress me much. Anyone have any idea's?

Keep in mind, I don't know much about watches or many brand names, I only know the popular brands..

If you would be willing to forget the fake diamonds, you can get a heck of a watch for 700 dollars. There are dozens of great watches in that price range.

Welcome, TahBOSS to this crazy club! I am happy to hear that you are into watches at that age, I was also hooked into them since I was in high school! (By the time I was your age, I had 14 swatches and a couple of 'Fossil').
As far as your question; if you want to go with real diamonds; I think you will have to rise your 'asking price'; however, there are very nice tiempieces with diamond-like stones out there. One rule that we all follow (and this is the best advice ever) it to try the watches on; you will find that one of them will make you smile; that is THE one. It might not be the one for your friend, mom, dad or relatives; but if it makes you happy, that is the watch you were leeking for. On the 'under 1,000' scale (I know I will get a L O T of posts from fellow WIS because of this....anyway, here it goes) I like Invicta Anatomic watches. Invicta is based @ Miami and has become a fashion watch; Anatomic's are fun, colorful and come in a vast array of colors; you should check them. Their website also posts retail prices. I hope this helps. Welcome and stick around! |

Well I must say we are giving him some alternative info to go on. Hope you find what your looking for, just remember it don't have to be a Rolex but, it does have to make you smile. Oh yeah and if it is the Rolex that makes you smile well that even better yet!! Then you will be hooked for life! ;o)

Technomarines are priced modestly. But in all honesty my friend, Why get diamonds? Get something that smiles back at you and you can wear daily. If it were my first watch (I dont know if its your first) I would want to hold onto it for a long time, Maybe even pass it down to my kids or just having it as a souvenir of the watch that started the collection.
If need be a Rolex, add a couple hundred bucks and you may be able to find a used Datejust. |

Hi and welcome to TRF.
Forget the fake ice.....for 700 bucks you could pick up a new ORIS or even a fairly recent used OMEGA. Both excellent watches and ones to be proud of. Cheers - JJ

you would get a plastic/jelly strap quarz movement technomarine style watch for that if you look about- the ones rappers wear- personally i would rather go with an oris without diamonds but with an automatic movement and a bit of history
good luck whatever you decide though

Bossman! While there are many nice watches within your suggested price range, I'm not going to recommend any. However, what I will recommend is that you go to your local bookstore and pick up a copy of WatchTime Special Edition Buyer's Guide 2007. It costs $12.95 (+ sales tax). In it you will find over 150 brands of watches ranging in price from well over $50,000 to under $499. From what you've posted, I gather you'll peruse the "$500 to $999" and "up to $499" sections. You will also find a wealth of useful information for both the most seasoned watch expert and the novice enthusiast alike. Good luck with your purchase and keep us posted. |

I wasn't aware that the diamonds on the citizen is fake, I really don't like fake things. What I really like that I have seen on these forums is the Rolex Submarine? Irani has it ;) (I am persian as well by the way) I also saw a Seiko that looked kind of like it. Are there any other watches like the Rolex SS?

Thanks for all your contributions and help. I also wanted to point out that I love a watch that holds a weight. The Anatomics looked amazing but I don't like light weight watches. Any info on Seiko? I also like the Aqua Terra and Double Eagle both from Omega.

Seiko has lots of models... Diamonds aside, What are you interested in? Sport model? Elegant model? Automatic? Quartz? etc etc
Overall I would say this Seiko is great looking but its a sporty watch http://cgi.ebay.com/SEIKO-GENTS-ALL-...QQcmdZViewItem |

There is no Rolex TT, TT means the watch has Two Tones stainless and gold.
The Sub would be considered a "sport watch" and the Datejust would be considered an "elegant" watch. Now if you put both together (a TT blue Sub like JJ's) That is one elegant sport watch! Edit: As a side note, All Rolexs are built tough, A DJ can handle almost anything a Sub can (except obviously you can dive deeper with a Sub etc) |

You can get a Tag Heuer Formula 1 for around $500. That is a solid built watch with good heft and great looks. A friend of mine has the red dialed one and he gets more comments on it than I do on my DJ or Sub. Pretty astonishing. Great watch for a great price. In fact I am working on trying to get myself one as well.

This watch has both heft and good looks. Feels like a sub in size (which it is the same size). Great price too.

I too have a TAG Heuer Formula 1... black dial with black rubber strap. A good, fairly inexpensive watch from a good quality brand. |
