Marathon SARs are gone...
Just got an email from my SAR buddy who reports the SARs are gone....now which exact model im not sure. I assume he means the regular SAR auto. So if you find one used and you been wanting one.... you better buy it. Im posting this here because i know alot of you TRFers like the SAR and have been thinking about picking one up. if you find one you better grab it.

I thought we might need a couple pictures of the SAR here. I bought mine from Ed's source some time this spring. I didn't realize there were so few left.
With the lug hole case it is very easy to swap straps/bracelets. |

Automatic SAR w/cyclops are classic. One of the best tool watches ever.
Not sure about the red maple leaf version, eh? |

x2 on the SAR love. Had to travel last week myself and truly enjoyed wearing mine for the duration of the trip. Carrying luggage and trying to get stuff in and out of overhead compartments and I didn't worry for a second about this hunk of steel. I put it back on the bracelet early last week and am consistently amazed at the fit and finish of this watch in this price range. I agree with Ed, if you have a chance to get one of these now, go for it.

Looks like countycomm still has some of the originals from the 2006 contract. I may have to pick one up before they are sold out.
I have a TSAR that replaced my Sandy 660. The old 660 is still a good watch but the tritium vials got weak. You guys take some great pictures by the way. |

have a question about SAR watches
Are these better than the Seiko dive watch models in any way? If so, in what ways- durability, movement, longevity, quality, etc? I have never owned a Marathon brand watch. I saw the prices on County Comm, not too bad. Thanks.

i've had a sar since '02, its my goto watch other than my sub. its travelled the world with me and has never let me down. i've owned numerous seiko watches in the past, they really don't compare, the sar is a completely different league. if you get a chance to check one out, you'll know what the fuss is all about.
