Most Impressive Brand on Street?
It's time for me to replace my 13 year old Seiko Kinetic as it stopped working and the expense of repairing it doesn't make sense. Besides, I think I'm ready for a new watch and I'd like to step it up a notch or two.
Of the premium watch brands out there that appeal to me in the $2k - $3k range, I like the following. Which of these most impresses the average person on the street so to speak? It's vain, I know...but if I'm going to lay down a few grand on a watch I'd like to raise eyebrows in the process. By the way, don't say Rolex...the only Rolex I like is the Milgauss and it's not worth the price tag in my humble opinion. Omega Tag Heuer Seiko Grand Seiko |

For that price range I would go with an Omega, hands-down. It might not be as recognizable to the person on the street, but for people that know watches Omega is highly respected.

Among your choices, I'd choose Omega easily.
However, in your price range, you can pick up a pre loved 14060M, 16570, or an Explorer 1.

If your looking for the truth, then none of those brands will raise eyebrows on the street. If what you want is to get noticed then Rolex is the watch. But honestly, people don't usually notice watches anyways so you may be a bit disappointed. You can get some beautiful pre owned rolexes in that range. If I was forced to pick from your list (assuming your buying brand new) I'd go with some variant of a Tag Heuer Carrera. Good luck.

Used Rolex if you're gonna' be flashin' it.
For new, I don't think you can beat Omega bang-for-buck. Heck, even if you're buying used. |

"Which of these most impresses the average person on the street so to speak"; I think 99% would say Omega.
On a personal note, without hesitating, my pick would be; Grand Seiko (though not very easy to find new in that $2k - $3k price range) Cheers, Joe

Agree that the GS is probably the best of the bunch.

I would seriously consider Breitling, they have some serious timepieces for fair price, and they quality is outstanding.
And, of course, Grand Seiko is something very special, possibly the best watch from your list! But remember one thing - no matter what anybody says, you buy the watch that YOU like the most! BTW, I would repair Seiko Kinetic, here in Serbia changing of capacitor (or battery) is not that expensive, around 50 Euros. Good luck!

If your goal is raised eyebrows from the general public, I'd go with the Tag Heuer Steve McQueen Monaco. If you want the same from watch aficionados, then Omega is the brand.
