Just received my winder today. It has three settings, Function #1- rotate ten times clockwise for 1 min, rest for 12 mins, rotate counter-clockwise ten times for 1min. Function #2 same but rest for 15 min. Function #3 same but rest for 22 min. Any one of these seem more appropriate? Also, someone mentioned that his watch ran slower on a winder. Is that because they aren't getting wound as tight as normal wrist use? Speaking of being wound too tight.........

Use function #3, that'll give the watch just over 700 turns/day. Recommended for Rolex watches is about 650 bi-directional turns/day, so that setting will be pretty close. If you want to be almost dead nuts, plug it into a timer and run it 22 hours/day.

Well first you cannot over-wind a automatic watch they have a build in clutch mechanism that prevents it.Now regarding the settings try them experiment with them, just choose the setting that keeps your watch powered.There is no strict rule of thumb,but to keep most auto watches Rolex including around 700 turns a day.But if the lowest setting keeps the watch powered then that will be fine.When transfered to wrist it will then fully wind with normal arm movement.

Got this one on E-bay, Watchwinder Watch winder 2+4 axes wood +drawers doors. $39.95. (without drawers $34.95). Sliding glass door a little inconvenient because you have to take it clear out to get to both positions. Also, this one has only AC power, no batteries, which I don't mind because I could'nt imagine using it on Battery power anyway. As soon as I can figure out how to get focus on my camera, will post pictures of winder/watches.
