Girlfriend 1.0

Dear Technical Support,

18 months ago, I upgraded to Girlfriend 1.0 from Drinking Mates 4.2, which I had used for years without any trouble. However, there are apparently conflicts between these two products and the only solution was to try and run Girlfriend 1.0 with the sound turned off.

To make matters worse, Girlfriend 1.0 is incompatible with several other applications, such as LadsNight Out 3.1, Rugby 4.5, and Playboy 6.9. Successive versions of GirlFriend proved no better.

I tried a shareware program, Slapper 2.1, but it had many bugs and left a virus in my system, forcing me to shut down completely for several weeks.
Eventually, I tried to run GirlFriend 1.2 and Girlfriend 1.0 at the same time, only to discover that when these two systems detected each other they caused severe damage to my hardware.

I eventually upgraded to Fiance 1.0, only to discover that this product soon had to be upgraded further to Wife 1.0. While Wife 1.0 tends to use up all my available resources, it does come bundled with FreeSe*Plus and Cleanhouse2005.

Shortly after this upgrade, however, I found that Wife 1.0 could be very unstable and costly to run. Any mistakes I made were automatically stored in Wife 1.0's memory and could not be deleted. They then resurfaced months later when I had forgotten about them. Wife 1.0 also has an automatic Diary, Explorer and E-mail filter, and can, without warning, launch TurboStrop and Multi-Whinge. These latter products have no Help files, and I have to try to guess what the problem is.

Additional problems are that Wife 1.0 needs updating regularly, requiring ShoeShop Browser for new attachments and Hairstyle Express which needs to be reinstalled every other week. Also, when Wife 1.0 attaches itself to my Saab 93 Convertible hard drive, it often crashes. Wife 1.0 also comes with an irritating pop-up called MotherInLaw, which can't be turned off.

Recently I've been tempted to install Mistress 2005, but there could be problems. A friend of mine has alerted me to the fact that if Wife 1.0 detects Mistress 2005, it tends to delete all of your assets before uninstalling itself.

Help requested please?

This OP looked very familiar to me and I felt like I had seen it before. I Googled it, and I had quite a few hits. I'd love to know where it originated because it's very clever.

ExWife 1.0 is not very compatible with NewWife2.0, especially since NewWife 2.0 has better capabilities and is a definite upgrade. NewWife 2.0 also does not require mandatory weekly alimony asset resupply. No crashes...Motherinlaw Popup still an issue though...

Dear user:

Your problem is that you installed Wife 1.0 thinking it would work in conjunction with some of your other programs. Wife 1.0 is in fact an entire Operating System meant to manage all of your opertaions. It is not an upgrade of any of the GirlFriend 1.xxx versions or of Fiance 1.0, it in fact overwrites those programs and seeks to manage all user resources going forward.

For instance, while Wife 1.0 has a fair-to-good cooking and cleaning program, it will totally lock up when you try to implement your old programs like LadsNight or Playboy. Also, you have noted some of the problems with the Memory Sectors of Wife 1.0, which have an incredible data storage capacity with numerous sectors that can never be deleted. This has caused you some problems, but Wife 1.0 is meant to be used differently than other programs. Rather than trying to avoid the memory portions of Wife 1.0, I try to utilize them. I use Wife 1.0 as a second brain. I no longer need to remember dates or addresses or even names of family or friends -- I store all that info in Wife 1.0, freeing up my own brain sectors for fun things like StupidWISFacts 3.0.

All in all, I would encourage you to learn to work with Wife 1.0 the way it was meant to be utilitzed. 95% of your interface with Wife 1.0 can be accomplished by successfully using the WhatdoIdonext, WhatdoIdonow, and Whatdoyouwant commands, any of which will open up a dialogue with the program that will well instruct you on proper usage of the program.

Good luck!
