Which one or two are keepers for life ?

Do you have a favourite watch(s) in your collection that you would never sell at even double the going price ?

I have two that I will always try to keep & never sell if I don't have too.

1. GMT II C
2. Omega seamaster 40 years of james bond limited edition

I have a GMT Pepsi and a Sub ND non COSC certified which I will never sell. Funny, I was in my AD a year ago and the customer was looking for a GMT Pepsi and my salesclerk told him they were no longer made but told the guy I had one. He actually asked me if I would be willing to sell it to him.....of course I declined!!!

I sold a '84 Rootbeer TT GMT in '94 for very silly money so i swore that any more Rolex i got would all be keepers. So that means i will have my Pepsi for life, and any other that i buy too.

I bought a SD in july 2008,wore it just for my wedding 4 months later and sold it with much regret.
After 2 years I had the incredible shot of luck of buying back that very same SD . Of course,I will never let go this watch for any reason or offer.

I buy my watches to keep. I plan on never selling them unless I find myself in dire need of money but hopefully I will never find myself in that position.

I don't plan on selling any of my watches.

However since all of them are new models and can easily be replaced, I think I would be stupid not to sell any one of them at twice the value.

Then go out and replace it and keep the profit or purchase another watch.

I told myself more then once, this is THE keeper.
Wisely now it is better to keep my mouth shut.
This because of the fact that (and i can not help it) I nothing can keep.
Have the urge to sell after a while and buy something new.

Even though my 16613 Submariner has a ton of sentimental value, if I could only keep just one watch for the rest of my life, it would be my new 16600 Sea Dweller. It has a certain magic and the perfect case proportions for me. I traded away a SD in 2005 and always regretted it. Now that I have her back...she is a keeper for life.

Well, my favorite watch will always be my first Rolex that I got it for myself brand new from a AD in Vegas and paid way over my head for it eight years ago in 2002. It is a TT Sub 16613 Y series, black dial. What I did was that I’ve won a poker tournament and got myself this watch as a gift from myself to myself for Christmas without any discount or bargaining whatsoever. I am still happy and enjoy this watch every day since. And I think I play poker better, more aggressive since :)

There are two parts to your question- keepers and double the price. I plan on keeping my GMT IIC and Sub Date, but if someone offered double the price I might have second thoughts. Perhaps I would sell one or both and buy back similar models from one of our trusted sellers and have enough left over for a third Rolex.

I have 3 I would never sell.
1. DD Quartz that my father gave for graduating med school.
2. TT Daytona my wife gave me on our wedding day.
3. 1680 Sub that was my first Rolex that I bought at age 15!

I'm not that attached to my watches. Love'em, but there are always more where they came from. I've sold watches and then missed them and bought the same model back. Most of these are not endangered species; particularly any Rolex at production numbers of 900,000 watches a year, which comes out to approximately 3,500 watches a day.

I have a couple of limited editions that would be difficult to find. Since I'm a fan of the Lemania 5100 movement, I believe the nicest housing that the movement ever found its way into is the Fortis Cosmonauts. I have a #83 of 100 made in yellow gold. That said, for the right price I'll sell anything, except for my dogs.

My Omega Seamaster Bond Chrono Blue that my wife gave me when we were still dating.
I traded a GMT that she gave me part of the money to buy for a weeding gift and she reminds me of it every time I plan to sell or trade any watch. So the Omega cannot go for any reason what makes it a keeper. The rest will go if a good offer or if I get bored.

Regards,
