Maybe I'm not a true WIS.....
I've got 2 watches now right.... my beloved Panerai and the Alpha triple date.
Some of my work wardrobe isn't conducive to having the large case of the Panerai under my cuffs of some shirts/jackets/tops, so maybe 2 or 3 times each week I'll have to wear the Alpha - under sufferance I tell you. My problem - bloody hell I hate setting this Alpha, I dont have a watch winder so when I dont wear the Alpha for a few days it stops.. resetting the thing is sloooow and painful indeeed It's true maybe women and mechanical watches dont go together well Maybe I need a backup Quartz or at the very least a mechanical watch with no date/complications to have to deal with the Panerai is a BREEZE to reset I can tell you - the few times it's stopped on me, its back up and running in no time. How do you all keep up with sooooo many watches in your collections. I'd think I'd go crazy keeping them all on time!!! |

I bought a $60 winder that winds 4 watches. I have 7 in total so the other three I just have to set manually when I try to wear them
You can even buy a single watch winder to address your particular situation.

I know but I kind of look at it and think a winder for a watch that cost me $40US seems extravagant!!!

Yes true, but you and I both know you have the Pam fever, just a matter of time you'll get another Pam, so why not plan ahead?

Yeh but I'd probably buy another manual wind if I did get another PAM... actually I really want something more stealthy like an Air-King! Which would need the winder I suppose!

This is going to sound pretty primative, but I usually have 3-4 watches in rotation at any given time so what I do is wear one and keep the others in front of my computer at home, so during any kind of down time, I hand rotate them to keep them wound enough so they keep on going. I've been thinking of getting a couple of winders, but so far, my system seems to work OK.

What do you mean you don't have a watch winder? I think you have the perfect one right under your nose...
All you need is the custom 'watchinator' collar, strap it on and let him/her have at it for an hour a day or so and your good to go...

re:My problem - bloody hell I hate setting this Alpha, I dont have a watch winder so when I dont wear the Alpha for a few days it stops.. resetting the thing is sloooow and painful indeeed Donate the Alpha to charity or some nerd kid, then you won't have all the aggro with it. Go out and buy a Casio or a Seiko on sale somewhere. Then your troubles will be over. Steve |

I understand, the force is strong with this one. So the Turbo-nator and expensive watches with yummy leather bands doth not a good match make. You really should check out eBay for a winder. There are some exceptional deals there on occasion. I've noticed many ship from 'down under' so voltage may not be an issue. I got a pretty snazzy one for a very good price. If I had to pay the 'normal' price for a 4 watch winder, I wouldn't have one right now (or at least yet).

I used to think that to be a WIS the watch had to be an auto or manual, or high end or whatever. But I know you are a WIS Amanda just because you all the subtle difference between what you just mentioned and you also know what a watchwinder is.
Besides, you are a Paneristi first and a WIS second.
