Hi all,

It's been 3 years since my GMT IIc purchase and I'm ready to for another! My budget is 6k. What do you recommend( doesn't have to be Rolex )?

I will give you my standard advice. The most magical Rolex in my small collection is my 16600 Sea Dweller. Because it was discontinued in 2008, you can still find them in like new condition and best of all you should come in under budget. This is my favorite Rolex and makes a terrific companion to the GMTIIC (my new one will be here next week).

+1 ... I love my Sea-Dweller so much that I don't want to own any another Rolex or for that matter another watch....

Gotta go see one on my wrist. I hope my local AD has one... I did like the DSSD but it's a bit more than my budget.

I'd say a nice DJ or Explorer II to compliment your IIc!

I vote for a different case. I have the IIc and these. Nice to have variety.
There are obviouisly many other models than these two, but a good start and easily under 6k (especially used).

Go for a 16600,there's really some magic around the SD,something I've never found not only in all the other Rolexes I've ever owned,but even in some other higher priced brands.
The SD gets a lot of respect from Rolex haters too,that says it all. I'm trying to resist in getting another one just to preserve the one I have.

The 16600 SD would be an excellent choice and soon becoming a classic. You cant go wrong really with any Rolex.

That is so funny! I was just contemplating the exact same thing. I am actually considering buying a second 16600 BNIB to keep in the safe and crack it open in 20 years on my 54th birthday. The Sea Dweller really is that seductive. Something about the perfect proportions of the case, the extra thickness of the crystal and the engravings on the case back. It is very very special.
