Seiko Black Monster

Yeah! I finally received my Seiko BM - Hd a few questions for other owners.

Has anyone removed links from the bracelet? I'm need to remove 2 or 3.

Also, how does the divers extension release? I think I see how, but don't want to bend something if I am wrong...lol.

Thx in advance.

Thx!

Here is a great link for removing the collars and pins for the links. I had to remove 3. With the right tools (a safety pin, a large paperclip and two needle nose pliers) it was a snap.

Info on the extension still much appreciated!

Saw the thread on the Seiko BM. Read the website on the stripdown. Found one on the Amazon link. It is on its way. US148 - what a steal. Please don't do this to me again.

Congrats. Brendan! Glad you got it. I can't comment on the bracelet and how it works - I've got the rubber strap on mine, but I can't wait to see photos of your new baby! Wear in the best of health, my Rootbeer brutha!!!

Great watches for the money Seiko but sometimes bracelets can be quite tricky to adjust

I think it is sooo funny how many people bought the BM on this site - great job everyone.

Oh, I found out about the divers extension. I'll post what someone else said:

Quote:
from on your left wrist you need to open the bracelet and then lift up on the extension fitting your fingernail in from the top. The metal tang that wraps around that part of the clasp wil pop off once it gets beyond the angle that lets it sit flush. It sort of rolls off. and rolls back on in a similar fashion. Easier than the Rolex Sub mariner ext.

Here are some pix (I was taking some pix of the Casio Sea Pathfinder for another thread so thought I would take them together).

Yes, the bracelet pin system could be improved. I found it easier to push the link pin out by hand with my rolex bracelet adjuster and push the pin and split barrel back in using a larger pin on the barrel side as suggested. If you use a pin remover and catch the edge of the split barrel you could damage it. I think the band pin system will be hard to keep clean and free from grease and dirt - time will tell.

My pleasure Eddie - yes we'll have to see how dirty the bracelet gets.

Nice pics - I'll see if I can come up with one in the near future.

The Seiko monster with 7S26 movement, must be the divers watch bargain of the century, one great and very tough watch.

Great article about the 7s26 movement, quite old now but still a good read.

Agreed, Peter. And that article is a great one. That is one of the research articles I first read before I purchased mine. Excellent!

I have never tried one of those on. How does it sit on the wrist? How is the weight? Looks like it might be a bit bulky.

It is a bit bulky and sits nicely on the wrist. You get used to it very fast and it becomes very enjoyable. The crown at the 4 position is an added bonus also

Indeed! I got mine on the rubber strap because it is lighter than the metal bracelet, and because I sweat a lot at times in my work, and the rubber strap moves around a lot less.

Any way you slice this baby, though - it is one sweet watch!

I do like the look of the crown at 4. Gives it a different look.

Trust us, this is the best watch in this price point, IMO.

I wore the BM for the for a day and a half when I got it and I was suprised at how well it sat on my wrist. Witht he SS bracelet, it didn't move around much.

Hey eveyone with a BM now, how accurate is your watch? I had read that one could expect 10-15 secs fast per day without regulation. However, during the time I wore it, it showed to be only 3 seconds fast per day. Once i took it off and let its power reserve start to run down, then it seemed to speedup, but with a full reserve and wearing it, onlt 3 secs off. That seems great to me!

Mine runs a bit fast, probably in the neighborhood of your results, Brendan. I have not had it adjusted yet (too lazy), but will in the future. The accuracy is tolerable for now. Love da Monster!!!

Mine's about 10-15 sec fast a day also, no matter how much I wear it. But ya know what, I can live with it.
