Back from Vegas....
Just got back from my birthday trip to Vegas! I enjoyed wearing my LV proudly. Lost my A$$ at the tables. Had lots of fun including "Rolex" related stories:
* I was playing PaiGow at the Gold Coast on Saturday night and this gal sitting next to me notices my LV and said "wow, that's a nice 50th anniversary sub". She went on to say that she works at a local AD and had just gotten "Rolex certified". Not sure what "certifed" means other than to do repairs (she was in sales?). We made small talk about the Daytona frenzy, etc. - she said that they had gotten very few LV's and that they went very quickly. Had to visit the strip Rolex dealers. My wife snapped a few pics. * There is a smaller store at the Caesar Forum shops - they had some decent stock including the TT 50th GMT. No SS Daytonas or LV's. Two salespeople there commended me on getting a LV - that they were tough to get, blah, blah, blah. We made some small talk - they were nice people - tried to leverage that "secret" Daytona that they might have in the back - my wife wants a Yachtmaster and my deal is that the first AD to sell me a SS Daytona will also get the Yachmaster deal (a "2 watch" deal). It didn't work - A) they didn't have a Daytona in stock and B) my leverage deal was not a big enough transaction to trump others on their waiting list. * Had to go to the mothership Tourneau store at Caesar's - a great store for viewing all the other watch brands that I appreciate - their Rolex supply was nice - much larger than a typical AD but their staff was horrid as usual. Not a soul offered to help or engage in any discussion (I wanted to look at a Graham Swordfish to try it on). Sunday afternoon and the place was dead - maybe 5 shoppers and around 15 staff. * Wynn's - I almost pi$$ed myself when I saw the number of Rolex's on display at the Rolex dedicated store in Wynn's. It is un-freakin' believable. Arguably 500-1000 various models on display. It is a must see if you are in town. Engaged the sales gal in a little small talk. She had never heard the term "LV" before (I was wearing my Cartier Roadster GMT) - I explained that the LV was the 50th anniversary sub and then it clicked in. I tried my "2 watch" deal offer with her. I suspect that she was warm to it but she explained that it wasn't her turn in the rotation yet (their sales people are on a rotation for every Daytona that comes in - she was 7th in line). Anyways, I had lots of other fun - most of it needs to "stay in Vegas". I strongly recommend the Phantom of the Opera show at Venetian. We saw Pete Rose who was signing stuff at a memorabilia store in Caesar's - there was no line and he seemed to be sitting there lonely and pathetic. We saw Carrot Top doing some shopping at the Saks 5th just off the strip. The dude is totally pumped - abnormally large bi's and shoulders - its wild! I'll be posting my top 10 LV's pics soon. I'm sure I have lots of work backed up waiting for me tomorrow. K4S |

Looking pimp there.
I enjoyed Vegas when I was there. I went to the Wynn's Rolex store and could not believe how stacked they were. As for Carrot Top, the man got buff. He used to be very scrawny. I stayed at the Venetian and stupidly never went to the Phantom show. It's one of my personal favorites and I somehow couldn't convince my girlfriend to see it with all the other shows going on. Besides she wanted to go to a nudie show (girls nudie, not guys).

Welcome back! Great write up. Must go to the Wynn. 500-1,000 Rolex to drool over is reason enough for a trip to Vegas. I have two nights free coming to me from all the money I pissed away last time I was there.
Great pics too. The LV looks great on you. Congrats again! |

Sitting in a hotel in Vegas now. Here once a month.
On a lark, went to Tower Jeweler on Sahara who advertise themselves as the source for pre-owned Rolex. Waste of time and floor space. Insane stupid prices for so-so used watches. The Wynn store is pretty awesome. I don't gamble so the the chances of me winning $ to buy a new watch are slim to none. :) I guess I should also include a "Happy Birthday!" :)

Sounds like you had a really good time. My wife and I go to Vegas every year and I'm starting to get the fever again. I went to Wynn's Rolex store last August and was amazed as well. Here's a pic of me outside the boutique!

I thought all Rolex owners wore suits and decent shoes.
Have I been misinformed? |

Great report and pics ,Steve !
As for myself, have never been to Vegas or the States, for that matter ... Maybe one day.Come to think of it the last time I have had leave for a longer than a week at a time was in Dec 1999.Had a month off,was between finishing specialising and starting private practice.Married that December,in 1999 and completely broke at the age of 30.Three degrees against the wall, with a zero bank account. Anyone been to Vegas to visit the CES show, usually in January ?? That, still remains a dream,to attend the show. One day ... |

She did a darn good job studying up on her Rolex material to recognize the LV. The funny thing was that her friend, who was missing her front tooth (no kidding!) and her left the PaiGow table shortly after I arrived to go and play BINGO! They probably had some better marks in there (guys over 60!). K4S |

Nice report and photos. I think I hit all those stores in Vegas when I was there, except Wynn's which wasn't finished when I was there. It's one of the great cities for watch shopping.

Good times. When I was at the Wynn back in January they told me the same thing about an employee rotation as far as the Daytona goes. So at least you know they are telling the truth.
