Rolex servicing.

I have heard that when a watch is returned from being serviced by Rolex it is 'as new'. Polished, cleaned, all scratches removed and the movement is fully serviced etc, is this true and, if so, what is the age limit on watches for this service?

The reason I ask is that if someone buys a second hand watch which is say up to twenty years old and which may have scratches and marks on it would a full Rolex service return it to 'as new' condition?

Many thanks

I would think so, depends upon if this 20 year old dog was ever sent in or not?

rolexes should be sent in every 5 years IMO.

No, I'm thinking about a watch that has been regularly serviced in the past but has picked up one or two marks before I buy it.

It really depends on the condition of the watch.. They do not all come back "as new", but they are professionally refinished on the machines that put on the original finish...

IfI had a watch with deep nicks or dents, I would not want it refinished down to the bottom of the nick.... any metal taken off cannot be put back on..

Let's just say that a full service will bring the watch back to as close to it's original condition as can be reasonably achieved. I would recommend a full Rolex Service to anybody who bought a used watch and wanted to start out it's life in top condition.........

depends on model for a cut off date but in general I think it's around 1980,Rolex will charge for any other parts needed above what a general service covers, they will also replace any parts that are not from that model,at a cost to you.

I won't really look like "BNIB" but they do a very good job.

Rolex does a great job and it will look almost like new, or at least, as close as they can get depending on how banged up your watch is. I have always been amazed at the results after getting my watches back from service. I have heard that in the US, Rolex will service a watch up until it is 30 years old.

I would listen to this tools guy as he is not playin being on the form for over 20 thousand posts. But in case you want my answer. For over 600 usd I would hope the service covers everything but my sugest tell the AD to tell rolex you want the caseback polished for me at least that is the part that gets missed.
