You have £20,000
and you can only buy one of two watches:
http://www.watchclub.com/w2314/rolex...age-model.html ...or a new Day-Date. Which would you buy, and why? |

New classic YG day/date. I do not need an anti magnetic watch and I do not think the Milgauss is a particularly great looking watch.

I'd go with the vintage Milgauss. It's rarer than a modern DD and will probably appreciate more in value over time...... and it's a kewl looking watch!

Of those two, I'd get the new DD.
Then I'd get out my Dremmel tool and bark it.

A new DD because it looks nicer, will get a lot more wrist time and won't require maintenance for several years.

Neither. For $20K there are much better watches out there. Check out what AP, Breguet, Lange, Patek, and Vacheron have to offer.

The old Milgauss does nothing for me (except for the fact that it is rare, probably because it didn't sell well in the first place). I do like the DD; however, I think the price is steep.
Ultimately, I guess I would go with the DD. |

Depends on what you're after.
If you're after rarity and value-preservation, then get the Milgauss. If you're after daily use, get the DD.

I would probably get the Day-Date, if we had to remain with those particular two choices. The vintage Milgauss does nothing for me, and I would never buy a watch just because it was rare

Milgauss for me.
But if I had £20k to spend the last place in the world I'd go would be Watch Club. They have Bond St's most over inflated prices. Great high res images on their website though,

That Milgauss was up for £20k, box, but no papers. I don't know whether that's good or bad.

If these were the only choices I'd go for two new DD's, yellow gold with white baton dial and a white gold with a darker dial.
..... or the snazzy DD2 they have in stock with the black wave dial and keep the £7,000 change.

Assumption: Vintage Milgauss may not be available the next time I have that amount of money.
Went with the vintage, the new DD is an awesome watch but can be picked up any time. |

That's a tough one....Not many Rolexes I'm drawn to at that price point, and I'm not into vintage or the DD's.
Maybe this Daytona? |
